The couple were spending the holidays at the wife's home. The family were engaged in singing songs and hymns, Kloefel and his wife taking the principal part in the evening pastime. Kloefel requested his wife to sing a certain song, which she declined to do. He thereupon seized a shot-gun, took deliberate aim, and fired, the shot taking effect in the left eye, penetrating the brain and causing instant death. Mrs. Kloefel would have been 19 years old on Monday last. The murderer is a clerk in a bakery on Broadway, New York City. He is about six feet tall, and quite good looking. The couple had been married about four months.
