Werner, William G., of Cumru township, was born Sept 11, 1860 at Fritztown in Spring township, s/o Jeremiah and Catharine (Goodhart) Werner. Frederick Wilhelm Werner, the progenitor of the Werner family in America, was a native of Germany, born Jan 22, 1762, came to America as a young man, settled in Heidelberg township, where he died June 15, 1849, his wife died in 1801. Children; Wilhelm, of Heidleburg, married Elizabeth Lamb and had 12 children; John, of Shafferstown, Samuel, married Elizabeth Knerr and they had (Sarah, Mary, Jonas, and Samuel; a daughter who married John Hetrich; Jacob, who moved out West, had a son (Jacob, who later resided in Reading, PA); Joseph. Joseph Werner was born May 26, 1806, and died Aug 18, 1854. He married Elizabeth Bard, d/o Jonas Bard, and she died in her 85th year. Children; Ellen, born 1828, married August Moyer, moved from Tulpehocken to Kansas; Jeremiah; Josiah, born 1832, died young; Mary, born 1834, married George Krick of Spring township; Elizabeth born 1837, married Peter Moyer; Kate, born 1839 married Charles Van Reed, of Spring township; Joseph, no record; Susan married Charles Haas, of Reading; John married Susanna Sterner, of Mohnton, and had 15 children; Jeremiah Werner, born Aug 16, 1830 in Lower Heidelberg township. In 1849, he married Catharine Goodhart, d/o Frederick and Catherine (Walfinger). Children; Ellen, born 1850, married JOhn Smith of Adamstown; Ephraim; Sarah born 1854 married Isaac Trostle; Amelia, born 1856, married William Boyer; Jeremiah, born 1858, died 1880; William G.; Catharine, born 1863, married James Coleman, of Edison; Charles, born 1865, married Annie German and had children (Katie, Laura, Alice, Paul, and Elsie): John G. ofMahnton, born 1867, married first to Katie Hay and had 5 children (Harry, Ellis, Homer, Goldie and Della), married 2nd to Sallie Wolf and had one son (Samuel); Maggie, born 1870; Elizabeth, born 1872, diedin childhood. William Werner, on Oct 15, married Maria Fausnacht, d/o Jonas and Elizabeth (White) Fausnacht. Children; Lillie who married Howard M. Angstadt of Reading and had one daughter, (Marguerite); Lizzie; William married Lizzie Heft and had (Bessie, Edith,and Mervin); Jeremiah, married Lizzie Grim and had (Edna, Gertie, and Emma); Ella, Harvey; Winfield; Charles; Leroy.
