Jacob Marsch, the father of John, subject, was born near the Rhine in Prussia, Germany, Sept. 1. 1799. and was the son of Jacob Marsch. The former grew to manhood in his native land. In his native land he married Mary Beisher, who was born in Prussia. He came to America in 1847. The subect was born in Prussia, Jan 3, 1844. The mother died May 5, 1882, the father, died Jan 12, 1871. Children; Margaret, wife of Reuben Albright, of Lancaster; John, subject; Sophia, wife of Charles Heis, of Columbia County; Catharine, wife of Jacob G. Simmons, of Greene township and Charles of New Columbia, Luzerne Co. John March was first married March 7, 1860 to Eliza Jane Hazelton, of Dreher township, Wayne Co., who died Oct 6, 1863 having 2 daughters: Sophia A., wife a Gus D. Distle, lived in Jefferson County and Mary, the wife of Edward F. Helmich, of ND. At Newfoundland, Mr. Marsch married Nov 12, 1865 to Emma J. Herberling. She was born March 24, 1842, the eldest daughter of Peter and Regina (Stroup) Heberling, both natives of Barvaria, the former born Aug 10, 1814 and died Dec 8,1891, and the latter born in Wurtemberg, June 20, 1820, they were married 1841. Other children of the family are; Louisa, wife of George Robacker, of Greene County; William H., who married Bertha Cramer; John L., a resident of Greene County; Edward Peter, who married Ellen Fribley, of Greene township; Jacob of Helena, MT; L. Bernard, who married Eva Logger of Phila., Peter P., of Stroudsburg; Elizabeth, the wife of Moses Phillips, of Stroudsburg; Ellen L., wife George Meyers of Greene township, Pike County; Ida who married Jacob Waltz of Stroudsburg and Herbert, who married Helen Grimm. "Marsh", Christopher, of Stroud township, Monroe County. His great- grandfather was Rev. George Marsh, a native of Germany, and was one of the first German Reformed minsters to located in Phila. Abram Marsh, a soldier of the Rev. and later settled in what is now known as Monroe County. By trade he was a cloth weaver, and he lived till 87 years. He and his wife reared a large family, of whom an account is given as follows; (1). Jacob, married Mary Cress, and had 4 children, (Simon Jacob, a resident of Wilkesbarre, Mary, the wife of Peter "Fellencer" of Jackson township and Elizabeth who lived in Stroudsburg). (2). Abram. (3). George settled in Wilkesbarre. (4). John, subject's father. (5). Isaac. (6). Sallie. (7). Sophia. John March, was born Hamilton township, he died 1878, his wife,Anne Bittenbender. Children; (1). Joseph, of Hamilton township, married Susan Smith of Ross twp., and had 4 children (Ferdinand, Frank, Emma and David). (2). Christopher, subject. (3). Melchor, unmarried. (4). Emanuel, married Mary Anna Metzgar and had ( Jerome, William, Allen, Elizabeth, Frank, Jennie. (5).Elizabeth married Anthony Arnold and had (Samuel, Steward,Elizabeth, Allen, Joseph, Amelia, Amanda, Alice, Emma, Tilda, and Ida. (6).Abraham, who married Mary Williams, and they had children ( Loretta, William, Steward, Ida, Minnie, Charles, George and Annie. (7). Jacob, twin of Abraham, married Emma Reese, and they had ( Edward, Willis, and Kurb. (8). Christina, married Amandus Woodling and had children ( Edwin, Emma, Alice, George, Steward, Frank, Ida, Martha). (9). Katie Ann the wife of Hamilton Fahs, and had ( Flora, Frank, Agnes, and Roy, (10) John died at 23. Christopher Marsh, born March 7, 1824, in 1848 he married Julia Strunk, d/o Joseph Cristina Strunk of Stroud township. Children;(1). Christina, who married Hebron Frankenfield, they had no family; (2). Mary married Napoleon Demund of Smithfield, children ( Howard, Robert, Floyd, Charles, Frederick and Millard. (3). Isabell, married Alonzo Hummer and they had no children. (4) Steward, married Amelia Getter, and they had (Chester, Grace, Sherdian, May, George, Ethel, and Russel Jr., he married Carrie Kemmerer, of Hamiton twp., and they had, Myrtle. (6). Eugene, who married Hattie Groner, and they had children (Blanche, Jennie, Anna, and Benjamin. (7). Elmer of Bangor, married Emma Wright of Northampton and they one daughter (Cula). (8) Abram,married Anna Wright, of Northampton. (9) Alvaretta married Peter Hunseicker and they had (Grace). (10) Emma. (11) Norton born April 22, 1870, in 1897 he married Winifred Owen, (12) Burton, born 1873, lived in Newton, NJ. Marsh, Linford, subject. Abraham Marsh, grandfather, settled in Northampton Co, where he died between 80 and 90 years of age. His 1st wife died leaving the following; Isaac, Abraham, John, George, Sallie and Catharine, By his 2nd wife, Samuel of Stroudsburg and Annie. Isaac Marsh, was born about 1795. He married Mary C. Williams. Children; Sally, wife of George Rafe, Susan, wife of Joseph Fenner, John, Linford, subject, Rosanna, wife of James Miller, Mary Ann, wife of Reuben Russell, Amos, of Carbon County, Catharine, wife Edward Stoffert, Sophia, wife of George Stucker, Isaac, and Joseph and Jerome. Linford, was born Dec 12, 1822, in Hamilton twp., he married Catharine Ann Weiss, who was born in Monroe Co and they had 2 sons, Milton and Howard W. Best Wishes, Geri
