Charles Kane may possibly be a brother to the Kane/Cain family I am searching. My Kane/Cain's are from County Cavan. Not quite sure where though I am leaning toward Togher in the Parish of Crosserlough as I found a Charles Kane and family in the 1821 census. I have a Philip Kane/Cain (last name spelling depends on the source) who arrived in 1841 and married a Margaret Smith, daughter of a Patrick Smith. In the 1850 census they were living in Banks Township with her brother, also named Patrick Smith. They did name their first son Charles and I am led to believe Philip Kane/Cain's father was also named Charles. I believe Philip and Margaret Smith were most likely married in or around the Beaver Meadows area. Philip also had a brother named Patrick. I am also inclined to believe he had a sister named Susan/Susanna as that is another name that has been passed down through the family along with the name Charles. I am also searching for a Thomas Taaffe (from County Louth) who was living in Beaver Meadows until around 1846. He married Margaret Ward, but I am unsure if it was in Ireland or after he arrived. Both Philip Kane and Thomas Taaffe purchased land in Bradford County, PA in an area known as the Cummiskey (part of what is known as the Irish Settlement) and their children married - Richard Taaffe/Taffe married Catherine "Cassie" Kane/Cain. I would love to share information since I really do not know that much about each family prior to their arrival in Bradford County. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Meta Cadugan" <lcadugan@erols.com> To: <pacarbon@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, December 17, 2007 5:49 PM Subject: Re: [PACARBON] Irish Catholics > I'm not sure if the Kane family information that I have is the family that > you are researching.
