I posted a message a couple of days ago concerning Lovina Blose who married William Strohl. We'll after receiving some new information I'm back to see if anyone knows more about this family. Lovina was born in June 23 1828 in Towamensing Twp (Northampton Co now Carbon Co). Thank you to Evan, who told me that Lovina's parents are Peter and Maria (?) Blose (Bloss). Since Blose is one of my lines I have a lot of info on this family. Except, of course, what I'm looking for. Now he's the fun part, looking in my records there's a Peter Blose who married Maria Edelman. This would be the natural link BUT I think there's another Peter and Maria somewhere. To keep things clear, I'm going to say Edelman for the first couple and just Peter and Maria for the second because this gets confusing fast. The Peter (of Peter and Maria Edelman) died in 1828. He was born and died in Washington Twp of Lehigh Co. Lovina was born in 1828 which doesn't rule anything out but she was raised in Towamensing Twp. I found census records of a Peter and Maria living in Towamensing Twp. from 1830, 1840 and 1850. By 1860 this Peter had died and Maria was living with Thomas (presumed son from earlier records). This couple also seemed to have a son Benjamin. He lived next door for a couple of the censuses. And stayed living next door through 1860 when Maria was living with her son. So the end question of all this is, do you have any info on another Peter and Maria in Towamensing Twp? Based on census info, Peter and Maria were born between 1780 and 1790. I've checked the other info on my Blose lines and don't have any other sons named Peter. The one family that seems like a possibility is George Conrad and Anna Magdalena Daubenspeck's son Henry. We have proof he went to Towamensing Twp. I only have 2 children listed for him, Catherine and John (b. 1798). In the 1790 census of Towamensing, it lists 2 sons and 2 daughters. In 1800 (Towamensing Twp) he was listed with 3 sons and 3 daughters. So this Peter could be the other son listed in 1790. Whew. Understand all this so far? Henry's brother Conrad also moved to Towamensing Twp., but in 1800 he's listed with 1 son and 4 daughters. Even though something is a little weird here because he had 2 sons and 3 daughters; doesn't really matter though because his sons were Jacob and Conrad. So I don't think Peter is a part of this family. So any ideas? Thanks so much. Michelle
I have a Peter Blose and Maria in my database. This might be the one you are looking for, even though I don't have a daughter Lovina listed for them. I have: Peter Blose, born 16 Apr 1787, died 19 Sept 1855, married Maria. Their known children from baptismal records are: Carl, born 21 Nov 1810 Thomas, born Feb 1812, died 22 June 1868 Daniel, born 28 Aug 1813, died 30 May 1854 Solomon, born 10 Dec 1815 - died 27 May 1853 Simon, born 3 Jan 1818 William, born 18 Jan 1820 Helen, born 8 Oct 1826 Dalice -----Original Message----- From: Michelle LeClair [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, March 04, 2004 12:28 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [PACARBON] Blose (Bloss) Conundrum I posted a message a couple of days ago concerning Lovina Blose who married William Strohl. Michelle, I have a bunch of chronological baptisms from the St Johns Church at Towamensing---there are a few baptisms listed for Peter and Maria BLOSS, though maybe too early, ranging from 1812 to 1820--this seems too early for Maria Among all the different sponsors, are a George EDELMAN and Maria for one; and a Nicol. BLOSS/Catherine EDELMAN for another; a Peter PELTZ/Katharine MUFFLI for anther; William KERN/Elizabeth for another. ---------------------- Unfortunately, I see NO Lovina's infants in the area of 1828 that would fit in. The baptised children of Peter and Maria that I found were: Johannes, b. 1812; Daniel, b, 1813; Simon, b. 1818; and Wilhelm b. 1820. You may want to check for these above SURNAMEs for Maria ( ? ) BLOSS. You already found the EDELMAN. Good Luck Evan, I'm right here. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Michelle LeClair" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, March 04, 2004 11:27
