Hanover township-assessment 1812 John Sterner Sr., Abraham Sterner, Abraham Sterner, Jr., John Sterner, Jr., Joseph Sterner, George Sterner. Joseph Sterner The Sterner family were early settlers along the Lehigh River. Among them were Abraham, who died in 1828, aged 53. Christian, in 1848, aged 79, John, in 1843, aged 82, and John, in 1849, aged 78. Barbara Sterner died in 1839, age 78. None of the family are now in the township. Rev. Sterner family In the year 1734 the ancestor of this family located in Northampton Co. He had 3 sons, John, Casper, and Nicholas. A petiton of John Sterner, of Allentown, dated Jan 6, 1794, recored at Easton, left a widow, Margaret and 6 children, Elizabeth, wife of Benjamin Robertson, Jacob, Abraham, Margaret, Joseph and John. A petiton of Adam, s/o Casper Sterner, of Whitehall township, dated April 14, 1795. The will of Nicholas Sterner, of Hanover township, was made Jan 5, 1803, mentions his wife Elizabeth and children; Abraham, Elizabeth, wife of Peter Neihardt, John, Daniel, Christian and Margaret, married William Costerd. Abraham Sterner, s/o Nicholas, was born in 1750 and died 1835 aged 85. He married Elizabeth Mehrkkem. She was born in 1750 and died 1829. Buried in the Allentown cemetery. Members of the Lutheran faith. They moved to Carbon County, moved to Whitehall township (after the Indian raids) children; Henry, George, Adam, Elizabeth, married John Scheierer, Salome married John Dieffenderfer, and Catharine married Heinrich Miller.
