He was a native of Bavaria, born 1844, s/o John Sauer, Jr., and his wife Anna Eva (George) Sauer. John Jr. was a member of St. Paul's R.C. Church. He married Nov 26, 1869 to Margaret Knapp, d/o George. Children; John E., Catharine married George Born, George C., Francis S., Rose, married Jacob Ashenbrenner, and Anna George Knapp, father of Mrs. Sauer, was a native of Germany. He married Magaret Moss, a native of the same German town, they were married in this country (USA). Children; Margaret, Catharine, Barbara, and Rosa. Knapp, George, who died May 20, 1904. He was born in Reading, in 1847, s/o George Sr., native of Germany George Knapp, Sr., stone cutter, died at his home, 913 Buttonwood St., leaving these children; Margaret, wife of John Sauer, Barbara, w/o William Klump, Rosa, w/o Frederick Merkel, Katie w/o Henry Spooer, and George George, married Mary Reisinger, d/o Wolfgang and Mary, natives of Germany. Knapp, Walter J., of Norristown, was born March 9, 1904, in NY City, s/o Otto and Emma (Weiss). His father was born in Hamburg, Germany. Walter J., married in Phila., June 24, 1925 to Margaret McCarry,who was born at Lansdown, DE., County, d/o Thomas and Mary McGarry, natives of Phila and New England respectively. Children; Mary Gertrude, Walter J., Jr., Frances Maria, James, Margaret Mary. Knapp, Charles Paxton, (MD) of Wyoming, Luzerne Co, born Aug 13 1852, s/o George and Ellen Eliza (Hurlbut) Knapp. On June 30 1880 he married Cora Josephine, d/o Joseph and Alimira (Brown) Knapp, of Pittston, PA. Children; Elizabeth born 1882 and Karl, born 1885. Knapp, Howard, born in Lackawanna Co., Feb 18, 1836, s/o John and Electa (Wilson) Knapp. They rearded a family of 10 childre, of whom, Howard was the 7th in order of birth. He died March 8, 1884. He married Jan 30 1862 to Harriet Foote, d/o Eben and Maria (Schiffer) Foote, natives of Luzerne. Children; Blanche, born 1864, married1891 to John Wood, Cora, Mattie, Debert and Bruce.
