Henry Bauman, the grandfather of Judge Dennis Bauman, was among the first settlers of Northampton County, north of the Blue Mts/. in Towamensing township, now Lower Towamensing township, Carbon County. The place he chose for settlment was about two miles north of the Lehigh Gap. Children; John D., father of Judge Dennis, was born about the year 1772. He was the father of 12, 8 sons and 4 daughters Henry Bauman, his brother, settled on a farm near Lehigh Gap, he rearded a largre family and he died age 92 Dennis Bauman, the 7th in succession, and the son of John D., was born April 10, 1819 at Bowmansville, then Northampton, now Carbon. Henry, the brother of John D. Bowman, settled at what is now known as Hasertville, and owned land on the other side of the river, opposite where his son Joseph now lives. Daniel, Adam, William, and Joseph are the sons of Henry. The daughters, Sarah married Reuben Hagenbuch off Lehighton, Susanna, married ___ Berlin, of Kresgeville, another daughter married ___ Butler, of Nesquehoning. Rachel married Jonathan Haintz, of East Penn, Mary married August Lehr, ofHassertsville, and Rebecca married Dr. Yarrington of Easton.
