Daniel F. Heller, was a native of Monroe Co., born in June 1830, s/o Anthony and Sarah (Fetherman) Heller, who were also native of Hamilton township and died at Shawnee, Smithfield township, buried at their farm. Children, Mercer, George, Daniel, Rosana, wife of Jacob Miller, of Stroudsburg, Catharine of Luke Staples of Stroudsburg, Sarah H.married David Ace, of Smithfield, Sybilla, the wife of John Smoyer of Smithfield. Strunk Great grandfather, William Strunk, emigrated to America in the 18th Century. Henry Strunk, grandfather was an early settler of Northampton Co., he married Elizabeth Ace, and migrated to Monroe Co., in 1798, their daughter, Kate, married George Ace of Smithfield township. William F. Green, of Rush township, Sus. Co., was born July 31, 1859. His parents were George B., and Sidney M. (Kirkhuff) Green, the latter of native of Warren Co., NJ. They married in Sus. Co., in 1855. Sidney M.(Kirkhuff), was born Jan 12, 1833, the d/o William B., and Mary (Hagerman) Kirkfuff, natives of Warren Co., NJ,who came to Sus. Co., 1853, located in Rush township. The father was born 1810, died Sept 1889, his wife died June 18, 1898. They had children; Sidney M., Amelia A., died in infancy, Sarah M., wife of Bronson Shoemaker of Rush township, Amy, the wife of Samuel William of Broome Co., NY., Caroline who married George Garnder of Rush township, Charlotte, married Tracy Youngs, of Forest Lake township, Sus. Co., Mary, the wife of Daniel Everitt of Auburn township, Ella the wie of Jackson Patterson, of Rush township. Mrs. Green's paternal grandparents were Christoper and Margaret (Barnes) Kirkhuff, both were born in NJ, where the latter died, the former died in Monroe Co., PA David Jackson Raub, was a native of Warren Co., NJ, born Nov 23, 1823, s/o Anthony and Catharine (Butts) Raub. of NJ/ Andrew Raub, born Mach 29, 1783, in NJ., his parents were Michael and Anna Raub, who came from Germany. Children; Andrew, William, Michael, Betsey who married John Stout, Mary A., who married Benjamin Stutton, Anna who married Samuel Vaughn, Kate who married John Fleming and Sarah who married Abraham Rice, On Nov 26, 1805, Andrew Raub married Catharine Butts, who was born Nov 1, 1781. Children; Mary, born 1806, died young, Michael, born 1808, lived in Lackawanna county, Eliza, Jacob, born 1815, died 1869, Sarah born April 17, 1817, married Michael Kirkhoff, William born 1819, Sidney M., married George Van Scoten, died while serving in the Civil war, and David Jackson. Jacob J. Angel, grandfather, was born in WarrenCo., NJ, he lived to age 72y 10m. By his first wife, Elizabeth (Bellis) he had 5 children, Margaret who married Abraham Cool, and died in the West, John J., Johanna who married Philip Butz, of NJ., Samuel who married Mary Cool, and died in Monroe Co., and Charles W., who marred Eliza d/o Dr. Jabez Guinnip. By his 2nd wife, Mary ("Kirkheff"), Jacob J. Angel had two children, Jay J. who moved to Western PA., and Charlotte, who married 1st to a Mr.Quig, and 2nd to David Silverthorne. John Hoffman, father, was born in Bucks Co., 1815, he married Catharine Yeisly, who was born 1815 near Buttermilk Falls, Smithfield township, and they had a daughter, Hannah who married Samuel H. Halderman of E. Stroudburg Philip Shafer, the youngest son of Philip and Mary Shafer, was born April 22, 1805 in what is now Stroud township, he married Aug 22, 1824 to Phebe Phillip, d/o Jacob. There son Charles Shafer, born May 28, 1827, died June 15, 1899, buried in Stroudsburg cemetery, he married On Dec 24, 1853, married Mary Marie Edinger, d/o John Edinger of Stroudsburg. James Wilson, the only son of James and Isabella Wilson, was born in Phila., in May 1844. His parents were natives of England. They moved to Monroe Co. In 1871 he married Angeline F. Warner, d/o Hiram and Levina (Fetherman) Warner. Her grandfather, Samuel Warner was born and reared in CT. He married Frances Shirley, native of Hamilton township. James Wilson andAngeline had no children of their own, but adopted Ida Kirkhuff. Members of M.E. Church, Mt. Pocono Mary (Lee) married John Miller of Stroud township. Children Sallie married Birchie "Canard, moved to Ohio, Elizabeth married James White of Stroudsburg, Alice married Dennis Edinger, postmaster of Stroudsburg, and Ames Miller of Tonwanda. John H. Wallace, s/o James and Elizabeth (DeArets, aka Smith) was born Oct 3, 1805 in Milford, he married 1st Adelaide Grier, on Jan 2, 1834 he married 2nd to Emeline Dildine, 3rd to Elizabeth Dildine Freese, a sister of his 2nd wife, and the widow of Abraham Freese. She was born Aug 1, 1801, the d/o Abram Dildine, a native of Scotland. Mrs. Ida Brutzman Kortright, of Stroud township, is descened from her grandfather, Adam Brutzman, who settled in Smithfield township as early as 1798, his wife was Susan. Children; George, the youngest, Joseph, William who died unmarried, Sarah, Elizabeth, Henry, Frederick,who died May, 1898, Julia A., and Mary A. George Brutzman, was born July 22, 1831, in Smithfield township. In 1854 he married Louise Brown, d/o John and Jane (Posten) Brown. Mrs. Kortright, the only child, was born 1856, In 1882 she married Francis E. Kortright, who was born 1849, near Bushkill, s/o Daniel and Mary Kortright, natives of NJ, and early settlers near the juncton of Bushkill and the Delaware. Mr. and Mrs. Kortright made their home in Stroud township. He died in 1896. He left one son, Chester B. who was born July 25, 1885 Samuel Spragle, was born in Hamilton township, Dec 3, 1823, s/o Jacob and Catharine (Myres) Spragle. The father was born in 1790. He was a member of the Society of Friends, he died March 28, 1858, his wife in 1860, at the age of 69, buried at Stroudsburg. Children; Melcher, married Julian Trivley and died at Stroudsburg, Sarah married John H. Kunkle, moved to Sus. Co., Christianna, married John Wolf, and they moved to Iowa, Julia A., married Noah Phillips and died in Pittston, Samuel, Sophia, married Philip Wildrick and died in Slatington, MaryA., who married William Sherrer, and they lived in Luzerne Co., Jacob maried Elizabeth Major and they lived in Iowa, William, married Abesenia Freiland, they lived in Stroudsburg, Catharine, married Jonas "Altimus", and they lived in Phila. Shafer, Allen, born May 27, 1845, he died Dec 24, 1889, he is buried at Shafer cemetery ( this burial ground was located near Shafer School in Stroud townhip somewhere along the road leading from the school-house, on the Monroe-Carbon trail), he married June 9, 1877 to Martha Jane Huston, who was born in Stroud township, Jan 7, 1847, d/o John W., and Sarah (Hill) Huston Philip B. Clark, of Pike County, was born in Lehman township on Oct 24, 1837, s/o John and Susanna (Howe) Clark, of Middle Smithfield, Monroe County. He died in Monroe County in 1895. Buried at Coolbaugh township, Monroe Co. The mother died at Dingmans Ferry and she is buried at the Delware cemetery. Children; Wiliam, Nelson, Philip B., Thomas, Samuel, John, who married Mary Pickett and Giles. For his 2nd wife the father married Margaret Wells, who lived at Middle Smithfield township and they had, Martha and Mary who died young, Frank P., Sarah, wife of Christ Krantz, Aaron, Susana, wife of Thomas Batchlor, Armida, the wife of HoraceCortright, George, Hester and Emma Paternal grandparents of Philip B., were Thomas and Martha (Quick) Clark, the former a native of NJ, latter of Pike Co. Children, Rev. William of Bucks county, who was twice married , first to Susannah Daly, and second to Maria Cortright, John, Mary, the wife of William Smith, Margaret, unmarried, Sarah, the wife of Johnson Wells and Catharine who died young. Maternal grandparents, Capt. John and Polly (Van Why) Howe, the former a native of England, latter of Monroe Co., Capt Howe served in the War of 1812. Children; Isaac S., Peter, Jacob, James, Kate, Betsie, Mary, Margaret, Matilda, and Susannah. Philip B., married in Sept 1867 to Catharine Holderman, children, Eugene, who died 1889 age 20, Amy, the wife of J.C Bossler, of NJ., Samuel, of NJ, Allie B., the wife of Oliver D. Heater, of Cherry Valley, PA., Mary and Lydia, residents of Parkside, PA., Joseph H., Adam and Walter. The wife and mother, who was born in Middle Smithfield, in Aug 1841, died Oct 14, 1889, is buried in a private grave site. Her parents Joseph and Julia ("Yatter") Holderman spent their entire lives in Monroe Co, her father being killed by a fall from a hay wagon. Daniel Younker,of West Auburn, was born Feb 18, 1841, in Cherry Valley, Monroe county, s/o Jonathan and Elizabeth (Fabel) Younker, and grandson of Frederick Younker. Charles Christian, of Monroe county. He is a natvie of Smithfield township,s/o James and Mary (Hill) Christian. His grandfather settled in NJ, spending the latter years of his life in Monroe Co., with his son James, who was the only child to leave NJ. James Christian, was born March, 1806, in Hunterdon Co., located near the Delaware Water Gap. He died in 1843. He married Mary Hill, who was also a natve of Hunterdon Co., NJ, born in 1809, d/o John. Children; Lucinda, born in NJ who married Geoge Merrick of Carbon County. Harriet born 1830, married Adam Smith and they lived in Smithfield, where he died leaving three children, (Maria, Eliza, and Amzi), her second marriage was to Martin Transue, children (Flora, who married Bryon Detrick, and Caroline who married Willian Snyder, John born 1832 in NJ., died age 21, Charles, Caroline, born 1839 at Delaware Water Gap, married H. S. Drake, children (Jennie, Mary, Charles, Alice and John),Sarah M., born in 1840 at Middle Smithfield and she married John Custard, children ( Henry, Katie, Joseph and Mary), Mary Etta, born 1843 at Middle Smithfield, she married E.Q. Cortright, and they had no children. John Fredenstine, born Feb 6, 1847, s/o Adam and Margaret (Grunn) natives of Germany, first located in NY City. John maried June 29, 1897, at Port Jervis, NY to Sarah Quick, a d/o James and Sarah J. (Westfall) Quick. Her paternal grandparents were Roger and Louis (Aerts) Quick, the former a native of Milford, the later of Belgium.
