    3. Hi Mike, I believe the Krauss name is Christian's mother, she was a Franconia, likely Veronica Krause. She was born about 1750, and died in 1807, wife of John Klotz b. unknown. I have Christian, born May 11, 1789 in now Lehigh County, died March 12, 1848 in Mahoning Twp., and Elizabeth McDaniel, b. February 1, 1795 in Mahoning, died November 5, 1826 in Mahoning. They were married October 18, 1815. The marriage date and the name Lydia Meyer comes from a folder in the Spruance Library which contains records of the Towamensing, Carbon County Church. I found it years ago, but fortunately I wrote the information down, of course back then I was just beginning this research sans computer, but thought that there might be a connection. The date of that marriage is June 7, 1829, about 3 years after Elizabeth's death. Further research leads me to believe that this Lydia, husband Christian are parents of Eliza Rehrig, and that by 1880 Lydia the mother is living with Moses Rehrig age 44 and Mother Lydia Klotz age 70. That census shows as follows. 1880 Lehighton PA, census: Moses Rehrig age 44 Eliza Rehrig, age 44 Jefferson M. age 16 Luella L. age 6 Lydia Klotz, age 70 I also have the death certificate of Charlotte McDaniel, who married Stephen Roth, she was born about 1816 and lived until 1913, her obituary is in the newspaper microfilm Lehighton newspaper of that year, Dimmick Library. In that document she lists her mother, James McDaniel's wife, (James was Elizabeth McDaniel Klotz' brother), as Lydia Klotz. Lydia died about 1849, James re-married to Catherine Ginther, or Guenther, unknown spelling, I believe Ginter since in the History of Carbon J. T. McDaniel was owner of a hotel in Carbon. The text reads: About the year 1835 a hotel was erected by Henry Freyman on the road from Tamaqua to Lehighton, and kept by him several years. He was succeeded respectively by PHILIP AND JAMES GINTER, and Jonathan Seidle. Lydia Klotz is likely a daughter of a John Klotz, either Christian's sister or a daughter of his brother John of Mahoning. I located a document in Northampton courthouse for John Klotz, who died 1828. No children are given in this it is a registration of death and inventory and appraisal, accounting 1833 and file date of July 17, 1833. In this document are listed debtors to the estate, among them James McDaniel. I believe this is Christian Klotz' father's will. A later document dated 1840, for a Jonathan Klotz E. Penn Twp., If you would like to have these I have scanned them and would be happy to send the scans to you, you can contact me privately for these. I am as certain of most of the information above, but as with any genealogical endeavor there are missing links and documents so I have not linked Lydia Klotz wife of James McDaniel with any of the Klotz men as a father. Never done! And census takers certainly weren't too accurate, lots of assumptions there.
