Hotchkiss, Clarence Decker, was born in Doylestown, Bucks Co, Aug 4, 1857 s/o George W., an Williamina (Bittenbender) Hotchkiss He is lineal descendant of Samuel and Elizabeth Hotchkiss, who were married in CT in 1632,from which date ancestors of the subject of this sketch were residents of that locality and of NY. Samuel, great-grandfather of Clarence D., was commissioned a master in the USN July 18 1788 but resigned in 1799,moved the Wyoming Valley. He married Sarah Decker of Fort Ticonderogo, NY. His son, George, reared in the Wyoming Valley had 3 children; Jeremiah, Emeline and George W.. George W. Hotchkiss, the father of Clarance D., married Williamina Bittenbender, 6th daughter of William Bittenbender, of Easton, and removed to Phila., and later to Doylestown, Bucks Co. George W. and Williamina were the parents of 5 childre. Clarence D. married June 19, 1878 to Albertine Walton, d/o Dr. Thomas H. Walton of Doylestown. Children George S. and Sarah W.
