Washburn, 64, of 118 North Bank street, this city, employed as a painter at Lafayette Coillege for the past 26 years was found dead in a room in the basement of South College, used by the Reserve Officers Training Corps yesterday afternoon. He had just finished painting a window sash there when stricken with a heart attack an fell dead on the floor. His body was found by one of the men employed on the college grounds. Dr. Theodore Reichbaum, deputy coronor pronounced death due to heart trouble. Mr. Washburn who resided with his brother, William H. Washburn, had been ill for two weeks but yesterday decided to go to work against the advice of his brother and other family members of the family. The deceased was a native of Bath, this county, a son of the late Jesse and Sarah Washburn. At the age of 13 he started work as a clerk in the Lehigh University Book Store, South Bethlehem, and remained there for a number of years. He later came to Easton to reside and had lived here for about 45 years. He is survived by one daughter,Helen Washburn. Mr. Washburn attended the Wesley M. E. Church, Phillipsburg. [End]
