    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: wagonerp Surnames: LEONARD, RYAN, BOYLE Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.pennsylvania.counties.carbon/2584.1.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I don't recognize the A.B. Leonard name. The furthest back Leonard I know of is Barney Leonard, b. 1825 Ireland, who was a coal miner in Carbon and Luzerne counties, Pennsylvania. His wife was Margaret Ryan, b. 1831 Pennsylvania to William and Margaret Ryan. Their oldest child named on census was Michael, b. 1847, Pennsylvania, and youngest was Frank, b. Oct 1871 Pennsylvania. Seven children were named on the 3 census I was able to find them on. I was able to find as adults three of their sons, and all were involved in the mining industry. You don't give any info on your Alphus Leonard, other than he was in Spokane in 1910. That might help figure out if he fits in somehow. Again, this (maybe) is not my family. I just find it curious that their descendants were lifelong friends of my grandfather, William Boyle, from Pennsylvania to Spokane. Geri, I located this name among the Dutch names in NY. Too, the website stated Andreis Van Woert, and a Pieter was also named, but I cannot translate or figure whether this is the same name. Will check the NY books when I get to BG Monday. But, the vAN hORN NAME WAS THERE, AS WAs the Vantilburg name. And it also listed Van Vorst and Van WAERT. Of which several are listed in NJ, but no connecting ties as I have found, so back to the drawing board.

Tomlinson of this city is one of the heirs of a large Tennessee estate worth millions, now awaiting distribution. Just her exact share of the fortune is not known, but it will run up into large figures. In the year 1832 William Pegg, John R. Boyer, Robert Montgomery and Thomas W. Graham each obtained from the state of Tennessee a grant of land containing 5,000 acres. A few years later Israel Kineman also obtained four or five grants of 5,000 acres. Associated with the first named gentleman were John Rhodes, Robert M Dunlap, Daniel R. Leisenring and Jas. R. Sage. The men were all Pennsylvanians and during their lifetime the land did not amount to much. It was located on the great Cumberland plateau, upon which extensive coal deposits have been discovered and the development of these fields has made the land worth millions of dollars. The heirs to Daniel R. Leisenring in this part of the country are Mrs. Tomlinson of Burlington, W. Kase Leisenring, Geo. Leisenring and J.R. Leisenring of Chicago, Mrs. V.H. Shields of New London, Iowa and C.H. Leisenring of Ottumwa. The family relocated to Muskingum County, Ohio about 1810 with their family. Most of the information I have is from the Muskingum County area including descendants of the offspring. Would like guidance on how to continue my research. Also would like to go farther back by acquiring information which could lead me to parents of both Adam and Elizabeth - whose children were; Daniel Bowman b abt 1792 Pennsylvania, Leonard (my direct ancestor) b 1 March 1795 Pennsylvania, Catherine b 1798 Pennsylvania, Jacob b 1801 Pennsylvania, George b 1803 Pennsylvania, Nancy b abt 1808 Pennsylvania, Anna b 1 Oct 1809, Ohio (Muskingum County), Caroline b 1811 Ohio, Adam b abt 1812 Muskingum County, Margaret 'Polly' b 21 jul 1811 Salem Township, Muskingum County, Solomon b 19 Jan 1820, Ohio. Any help greatly appreciated. Thank You, George Gildersleeve Salem, Oregon

In 1930, it says his age at first marriage is 23, which matches up with the Calvin in the 1900 census. He married Catherine abt. 1915. He was born April, 1876. I am trying to determine if this Calvin is my great-grandfather. If so, Alice was his first wife and Catherine Williams (my great-grandma) was his second. My Calvin was born in 1874 and died in 1933 in Shenandoah, Schuylkill county. I'd appreciate any information that can be provided Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. The Ella that you listed is the Ebathenia/Ebbasenia/Ebazina that is my g-g-g-grandmother. Her name is so variable that she difficult to track. One of the censuses has her name written so that it looks like Ebba or Ella. Ebasenia (b. Cir 1854; d. 1932; buried Dotters Corner Cemetery) had a child with a George Bradford, likely out of wedlock. That child Susanna Mary Bradford (b. Apr. 12, 1871, d. Nov. 24, 1948; buried Christ Lutheran Cemetery), married John Adam McFarland (b. 5 Sep 1866 d. 15 Oct 1949; buried Christ Lutheran Cemetery). They had at least 12 children, including my great grandfather. Ebbathenia also had a child, Cora Emma Meckes, with David Mecked. Again, they may have been unmarried. Ebbathenia eventually married Charles Getz, who was much older than her and had several children from his first marriage. I have lots of info on Ebbathenia's line. Anything you want, please let me know here or via email. I could write a book here, but I won't bore you! thanks for the info on Mary Jane. I didn't have any of it before!
