I found they are very helpful because they don't want you to touch anything. The marriage records are now only accessed by the courthouse attendants. I will be going to retreave some records but not until closer to fall because Jim Thorpe is a tourist town & the archives building is closet small. Their library has information on microfilm. Do you know if the Lower Towamensing Union Church kept that name? Luthern correct? I've had great luck in past cemetery searches. I do not know when he, or his wife, died, or where they are buried. I am hoping to get some clue as to her maiden name, and the name of his parents. Wendell was born in France in April of 1809. His 1900 Census gives the date of his immigration as 1835. He settled in Lower Towamensing, PA. Married Elizabeth (?), who as born in PA abt. 1818, most likely before 1839. He is noted as a inn keeper, a boat builder, and a limeburner in census records. Oral family history indicates he was in a partnership with George Hamm Kemerer in Lehighton, PA, building cabinetry and performing undertaking services (cabinets and coffins being conveniently related). Wendell and Elizabeth had 10 or more children. She died before the 1900 census. He died after. At the time of the 1900 Census, he was living with daughter Emma L. The place attained no significance until the Lehigh and Susquehanna Railroad was built through, since which time it ahs been a station on the road. In 1868, David Snyder opened a store, which he continued till 1873. John Balliet built a store and opened the [Page 768] business in 1872, and still continues. The hotel was kept by John D. Guys 'n' Gals, I am hoping you have an uptodate email addy for Jack Koehler, the Weatherly historian? I assume he is still alive? I am attempting to get the David WEATHERLY story on to History Detectives. I have found much out about this man. He was strongly anti-slavery in the 1840's, and he had a most interesting collection of offspring. One - George Lawson WEATHERLY - was murdered! Please put me into contact with this fellow, and if you have learned anything in recent years about the WEATHERLY name, please inform me! Thanks, Vince Summers

I'm Connie from Mn. kaune@scicable.com I went broadband a few years back, don't know if you had my new address or not. My names are Youngkin/Younkin/Junghen Etc, Borger/Burger/ Beers/Beer.Christman/Cressman/ Dotterer/Dotter/Greenzweig/Greensweig/Hawk/Haak/ Keiper/Kieper. I was on the Genealogy.com saw your name on the Ludwig surname site Thought I'd see if you have run across any info on my brick wall site the Youngkin/Younkin's. I've been trying everything to see if I can find out my David W. Youngkin 1820 who married Levina Greenzweig 1824, they lived in Monroe County in Eldred or Ross Twp. They were in Towamensing Twp, Carbon County in the 1860's. They had bought property from her father I've looked at the names the family married into. Even sent letters to several people explaining I was doing genealogy, and if they knew any info on the name. Even included a self addressed and stamped envelope. Not one answer. Discouraging. I've called some and they were going to send me info but it never materilzed. I'm not asking them for the present info just way back in the 1800's. Maybe people are scared of identity theft, I don't know. I would sure like to find my David's parents names before I kick the bucket. Just hoping your still searching and may have run across something. I hope you remember me. Thanks for taking the time to read this Connie

In 1920 Morris Thomas was a widower in Mauch Chunk. I found a WWII registration card listing a David L. Lewis born in Lansford on May 7, 1884. I think this Mary (Jones) Lewis-Thomas had a sister, Anna (Jones) Sylvanus-Johns in the area at the same time. Also Haydn Gilmore's family of this area is probably related as well.
