    2. Judy, If you check the 1850 census of Upper Towamensing twp in Carbon County, you will find Thomas McDaniel living with his parents, Robert & Elizabeth. They are living next door to Jacob & Polly Brown, Jacob being a brother of Simon Brown, and sons of Adam Brown and Magdalena Weitzel. Malinda is a daughter of Simon Brown. II do not have much more on the McDaniels, but I have research the Browns extensively since they are my direct line. Everything I gave to Dale Berger I have documented. I am back to George Brown B: prob before 1760, father of Adam, and his mother being Susanna ?. That has been my stumbling block. If you have anything this far back, please let me know. I hope this helps you Happy Hunting Sylvia ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour

    2. Judy
    3. Hello Sylvia, The Brown I have is Malinda Brown, b. July 7, 1857 in Upper Towamensing Twp.. She is married to Thomas McDaniel, b. July 4, 1850 in Upper Towamensing, son of Robert McDaniel b. abt. 1820 and died July 26, 1893, and Elizabeth Greenzweig b. abt. 1822 in Carbon, died Dec. 23, 1894 in Upper Towamensing. I don't know who Malinda's parents were yet, and I am not positive that Robert McDaniel is of the Mahoning Twp. Carbon McDaniels but it seems probable that he is. I have lodged him under James McDaniel's family, (James b. 1793 m. Lydia Klotz) for further research. James has several sons showing in Carbon Census records from 1820 to 1850, he died in 1854. Out of 3 or 4 sons only J. T. McDaniel is a proved child. I do know that in J. T.'s 1906 obituary only two sisters are shown as surviving, which is confusing because another known daughter of James survived until 1913, though one listed in the obit is a repetition of the same female's name as another in the obit, and one brother Charles is also listed, this male shows in the 1850 census with James and wife. Malinda is given as a daughter of Simon Brown, b. 1814 in PA, and Catherine Greenzweig, b. 1823 in Carbon then Northampton County. Simon's father is given as Adam Brown, and mother Maria Magdalena Weitzel in Dale Berger's genealogy at Ancestry. Simon Brown's family shows as: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- a.. ID: I620 a.. Name: Simon BROWN a.. Given Name: Simon a.. Surname: Brown a.. Sex: M a.. Birth: 22 SEP 1814 in PA a.. Christening: 13 NOV 1814 St. John's (aka. Towamensing) Church,Lower Towamensing Twp.,Northampton (now Carbon) Co.,PA a.. Death: 1890 a.. Note: The sponsors at the baptism of Simon Brown (Braun) were Georg Klein and Susanna Olwein. a.. Change Date: 28 AUG 2003 at 15:50:42 Father: Adam BROWN Mother: Maria Magdalena WEITZEL Marriage 1 Catharine GREENZWEIG b: 22 DEC 1823 in Northampton (now Carbon) Co.,PA Children 1.. Susanna BROWN b: 28 APR 1842 in Lower Towamensing Twp.,Carbon Co.,PA 2.. Adam BROWN b: 16 NOV 1843 in Lower Towamensing Twp.,Carbon Co.,PA 3.. Louis BROWN b: 2 JUL 1847 in Lower Towamensing Twp.,Carbon Co.,PA 4.. Levi BROWN b: 19 AUG 1849 in Lower Towamensing Twp.,Carbon Co.,PA 5.. William BROWN b: 1 JUL 1852 in Lower Towamensing Twp.,Carbon Co.,PA 6.. Abraham BROWN b: 26 FEB 1855 in Lower Towamensing Twp.,Carbon Co.,PA 7.. Malinda BROWN b: 7 JUL 1857 in Lower Towamensing Twp.,Carbon Co.,PA 8.. Amandes BROWN b: 12 NOV 1859 in Lower Towamensing Twp.,Carbon Co.,PA 9.. Albert James BROWN b: 26 SEP 1862 in Lower Towamensing Twp.,Carbon Co.,PA So far it is the coincidences which make me think that Robert McDaniel b. 1820 is of the Mahoning McDaniels's but it is not certain that he is James' son. There are two missing male children of Robert McDaniel b. 1756 in Maine, James is the 3rd. out of 3 stated children in Robert 1756's burial record where he is stated to have 9 children living at the time of his death in 1847, and his wife Elizabeth's (b. 1767), obituary states she had 9 children, 3 sons and 6 daughters, the sons being James, a Robert on whom I have found no further info stated to have gone west in the Carbon History, and an un-named son. Still searching for further info on those without much luck. If you have any information on Malinda's parents or if you agree with Dale Berger's ancestry for her, please let me know your thoughts on this. These McDaniels are a tough bunch to figure out!.....Judy ----- Original Message ----- From: <KRoth57013@aol.com> To: <pacarbon@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, July 30, 2007 6:36 PM Subject: Re: [PACARBON] McDaniel and allied families of Carbon County,Luzerne Co, Mon... > Judy, > > Just wondering what you have on the Browns? 3. Why don't you try sending to the state for her death certificate? It would list her parent's names and then you could try the census. 3. I have recently finished the Pennsylvania family of Robert McDaniel, b. Aug. 24, 1756 in Maine or NH, and his wife Elizabth Hicks or Johnson of Bucks County PA. Robert was apprenticed to a Quaker, Joseph Longstreth in Philadelphia, Southampton Twp., between 1770 and 1783 when he moved to Carbon County, then Northampton County PA. Robert and Elizabeth had 9 children, 6 females and 3 males, only one of the males is proven, James, b. 1793 in PA. One unknown son is stated to have gone west in the Carbon History, his given name is Robert, born sometime between 1783 and 1810. Another son is un-named and unfound. In 1744 Conrad made his way to Rotterdam where he boarded the ship "Muscliffe Galley", commanded by Georg Durell, for the voyage to America. The ship stopped at Poole in Dorsetshire, England, and arrived at the port of Philadelphia on December 22, 1744. On the same day, as required of foreign immigrants, Conrad signed the Oath and Qualification to the English government at the courthouse at Philadelphia. Conrad signed his own name as "Conrat Meckes". Many of the other passengers could not write and signed their names with an "X". (Source: Strassburger & Hinke, "Pennsylvania German Pioneers", vol. I, pg. 359 and vol. II, pg. 379.) To date, Conrad's name has not been found in any other records to indicate his whereabouts after arriving in Philadelphia. It is highly likely that he left Philadelphia since his children, Valentine and Eva Cather! ina, and his wife, Anna Christina, appear in church records in Hamilton Township in what was then the northern portion of Northampton County a little over 20 years later. However, Conrad's name never appeared in the same church records and he could have died in Philadelphia. Conrad was my great, great, great, great, great grandfather John A Walck Jr Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
