Kellam, Esq., who I believe was the burgess of Mauch Chunk at the time (see the Mauch Chunk Gazette, edition of 12/21/1854, marriage notice). It appears Babet died between 1875 and the 1880 census. There are newspapers available on m-film at the Dimmick Memorial Library in Jim Thorpe from that period. It is something like a 50/50 chance there will be a short death notice for her. Women didn't get a lot of notice in those days There's a short gap in the newspaper record in the early 1880s, but I believe most - if not all - of 1883 is on film. According to the 1900 census, it was about 1883 when George married Magdalena. The marriage, if it appears, might mention her maiden name. The Dimmick does paid research and can be reached at (570) 325-2131. But it is best to have them do a wide search since you aren't sure when Babet / Barbara died. Sometimes the death notice didn't appear until weeks, or even months, after the death. Jack Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Yes! I think the daughter would be Frances. Does it mention his wife's name? As I mentioned I think his first wife, Barbara died in either 1875 or 1876, and his second, Magdalene between 1910 and 1913. For your information, one of George's daughters, Theresa Rose is my grandmother. If you will be mailing them, my address is 4011 Wimpole Road, Louisville, KY 40218-4735. Oops that answered my question :) I found a few newspaper articles on George's death and how his daughter died within an hour after her father was buried. Would you like them?
