Strohl's ancestors, and I had found that reference to Conrad living with them in 1850; also Conrad and wife were godparents to one grandchild. But Daniel has also been listed as his father. Anything you can share would be greatly appreciated. Below I'm reporting on what we have on Nicholas Strohl's children. It's a pretty accurate record based on the work of Eurena Graver Beers. Her mother was Florence Olive Strohl, daughter of Dennis Strohl, son of Joel Strohl, son of Nicholas C. Strohl. I'll mark below any different or additional information: Children of Sarah (sister of Lydia) Levi Strohl married (1) Susanna Reilly (2) Tevilla Bartholomew William Henry Strohl d. Jan. 24, 1917, m. Mary Krill Feb. 1868 Caroline m. William Cassler Fietta married Daniel Searfass, Jr. Sarah Susanna, I had as Savannah, but the 1860 Census lists Sabina. Ephraim b. April, 1852, d. Aaron Strohl Polly (not listed) b. 1821 We have 4 infants of Lydia's dying. Children of Elena Andreas Thomas b. June 8, 1857 Susanna b. 1859 Unknown dates fit that of Dan Elias b. June 17, 1864 Gabriel Amandus Strohl b. Feb. 12, 1869 Ellen died as a small child of smallpox. We do not have a record of Aaron, listed as son of Lydia, and Daniel (b. 1863), Alvin, Puriette, H. Franklin or Milton, children of Elena. I believe there was another Nicholas Strohl in the county. Thanks for any assistance in finding more about his ancestors.

    2. Michelle LeClair
    3. Is anyone on the list researching the Straub/Strauch line of Carbon (formerly Northampton) Co.? I have a hunch and was hoping someone might be able to help. I'm a descendent of Leonard Strohl and his wife Margaretha. I have no maiden name for Margaretha but I'm wondering (and so is another researcher that I'm in contact with) if her maiden name may have be Straub. Leonard and Margaretha had a son Theobald on April 28 1809, his sponsers were Theobald and Margarete Strauch (Straub?). This baptism was in the records of St. John's Church (Towamensing) in Palmerton. Also in the records there is another Straub family of Dewalt and Margaretha. Leonard and his wife Margaretha had another son named Dewalt too. What I'm getting at is that this Theobald and Dewalt may be Margaretha's brothers, and as common practice in those days, named her children after their uncles. But this is just a guess. Does anyone have any info on this family that might help me? Thanks for your time. Michelle

I have searched in Philadelphia and Lancaster but I wonder when the counties split if the information went with another county outside of the Philadelphia area. Thanks!!!!!
