I am also interested. We have a connection to the families which we are trying to sort out. Somehow there is a PRICE and and REESE connection to our DAVIS family. I also have a DAVIS/JONES/WILLIAMS connection there too. They lived in the Audenried, Yorktown, Junedale area too, and went to the same churches you have mentioned, and many are buried in the Jeanesville cemetery. Then there is a GRIFFITHS/DAVIS connection. I have a list of DAVIS relatives who went to a DAVIS family reunion probably in the late 1930's or 1940's. Mr and Mrs. John PRICE and sons Raymond and Teddy of Scranton, PA attended. Mrs.(Mary Ann DAVIS) Eben(ezer) GRIFFITHS attended, her sister Ellen and nieces - Mrs.Daniel JENKINS, Mrs. LAPP, and Mrs. IFFERT. Other names were HEISNER, JOHNS, JOHNSON, NORRIS, WOLBACH, MEALING, Henry THOMAS, and my mom and her parents - the GIBBON family.

    3. Searching for information about Owen B Edwards, born 1819 in Glamorganshire Wales, served in Co H of the 81st PA in the Civil War, married to Hannah Jermyn - not sure if this was first or second marriage - also to a Sara. Children with Hannah were Winifred and Martha. Owen died in 1898, Carbon County. I'd really like to know who Owen's parents were and when he came to the US. I've heard illustrious stories about him, such as his being a writer in Wales and being in the White House when President Lincoln was shot. There is also a missing artifact from our family - a belt buckle with a bullet hole where Owen was shot in the Civil War - that I would greatly like to recover. Any assistance greatly appreciated. Your great grandfather Cornelius Nihen is listed as buried in the Frenchtown cemetery. He died March 6, 1883 according to research done by Ed and Martha Mulligan. Several possibilities exist why you can't find the grave; subsidences have disturbed some of the graves and the stones were covered. Also many stones are now laying flat on the ground, covered by sod and leaves. I was able to find several by luck. Have you tried Kelayes or Immaculate Conception cemeteries? They're close by. Good luck in your search. Walter

Surnames: Nihen, Ohrendorf in PA Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/QdB.2ACI/2651.1.1.1.2 Message Board Post: Hi Walter, Well, I read that one incorrectly ... Jeansville, not Junedale! I visited the cemetery in Jeansville today. It is older, mid-19th century. It appears there has been only one new burial in 2006. Many of the names are Welsh surnames, with many stones stating the person was born in Wales. I didn't find any of my relatives on the stones, but it would be good pickings for those of Welsh-Protestant ancestry. My folks were Irish-Catholics who lived in Wales before coming to Audenried. The church in Jeansville - I didn't copy the name - serves Jeansville and Audenried, according to a sign that I read as I drove by. I'll bet some of the burials are from Beaver Brook as well. I did visit Junedale and found no cemetery ... never did have one, according to one of the locals. There is a cemetery in Trescow, but that is a newer cemetery with many burials from the 1920s on ... visited that one too. St. Mary's, Beaver Meadows, is already on-line, with none of my ancestors there. I'm beginning to concede that my folks are in unmarked graves. I think the fact of reburials in McAdoo regarding the number of graves in St. Pat's, Beaver Brook, added to the Jeansville cemetery burials probably account for the 1880 Census figure for the number of folks living in Beaver Brook and the absence of graves in Beaver Brook's St. Pat's. Thanks for the pointer, Walter. I appreciate your help. Joe

I didn't know that there is a cemetery in Junedale. Isn't Junedale a patchtown off the Beltway? (after 309, turn right to Junedale instead of left to Hazleton, vicinity of Thomas' Kitchens) Where is the cemetery in relation to the town? I'll visit that one soon, like this weekend! It's good to hear about the clean-up and possibility of the Historical Register for St. Pat's. There are several Civil War soldiers buried there, as you know. What parish currently is responsible for the grounds? I had a lot of "buck passing" when I asked that question of three dioceses back in 1982 ... not one would own up to owning it! Even the 1982 pastor of St. Pat's in McAdoo wasn't exactly sure of his parish's responsibility. I never took the list found on the internet with me to check out the number of graves vs the list. It's interesting to note that you said more were identified. That's a good thing because many of the stones won't be there much longer due to weathering. If you can give me further directions to the Junedale Cemetery, please reply. Many thanks, Joe

I have often wondered where they might be buried in that area. I even thought the area of the cemetery might later be strip mined for coal. WILLIS FAMILY Joe Pelletier
