Does this Cameron DAR chapter still exist? Does anyone know where the records are located? Are the old records held locally or at the DAR library in DC? ~Cathi] Cameron County Press, Vol 35, No. 14, May 13, 1920 Daughters of the Revolution Cameron Chapter was Organized in Emporium on April 3rd. A preliminary meeting of the prospective members of a new chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution was held at the home of iss Marian Larrabee on April 3rd. This meeting was mainly through the efforts of Miss Larrabee who has been very much interested, and who was a member at large from 1903 to 1913, when she became affiliated with Alleghewe Chapter at Coudersport, Pa. ("Alleghewe" is the Indian name from which Allegheny is derived). Miss Larrabee was appointed Organizing Regent by Mrs. Anthony Wayne Cook, State Regent. The Local ofganization has been named cameron Chapter, and the organizing members are: Mrs. Helen VanValkenburg Brady Mrs. Mary Logan Felt Mrs. Louise Huntley Garson Mrs. Francelia Shafer Huntley Miss marian Eugenia Larrabee Mrs. Jane Judd Logan Mrs. Leah Cobb Marion Mrs. Marian Judd Murray Mrs. Marguerite Williams Randolph Mrs. Rena Felt Shaffer Mrs. Francelia Huntley Smith Mrs. Frances Cordie Walker Mrs. Nell Huntley Wiley Mrs. Lulu Huntley Williams Mrs. Brady was previously affiliated with Wellsboro Chapter, and Mrs. Marion with Alleghewe Chapter. The Nationa; Board at Washington has ratified the Chapter and a meeting confirming hte ratification was held at the home of Miss Larabee on April 19th, when the following officers were appointed: Regent, Miss Marian Larrabee Vice Regent, Mrs. Rena Shaffer Treasurer, Mrs. Jane Logan Recording Sec'y: Mrs. Nell Wiley Registrar, Mrs. Mary Felt Cor. Sec'y, Mrs. Marian Murray Historian, Mrs Marguarite Randolph Chaplain, Mrs. Leah Marion Regular monthly meetings will be held at the homes of the members. Our citizens should be pleased to have located here a chapter of an organization that has so long stood for the protection of our country, our homes and our schools, particularly at a time when bolshevik or red ideas have been creeping into the minds of many of our alien population. ==== PACAMERO Mailing List ==== If you wish to leave PACAMERO-L, send mail to [email protected] with the single word unsubscribe in the message subject and body. 3. I think most of the smaller chapters, like Emporium and St Marys, dwindled away. The nearest chapter is Dubois or Bradford. I thought about joining at one time but it seemed like a bit of expense so I put it off for at least a few more years.
