    3. I haven't been monitoring this group for awhile, but one of my research buddies contacted me about a discussion of Elizabeth OVERTURF. I am a direct descendant of Andrew Overturf who settled in Gibson twp. somewhere between 1800 and 1804 depending on what source you read. Andrew had two sons, John and Andrew II and three daughters: Elizabeth Overturf Dent, Catherine Overturf Mix and Susannah Overturf Shepard. Andrew II and John married sisters Hannah and Mary Jordan, daughters of James and Mercy Emry Jordan. Each of them had a daughter Elizabeth. John's daughter Elizabeth married George W. Smith and I have an approximate birth date of 1808 for her. Andrew II's daughter Elizabeth was born 9 July 1813 and was married 10 January 1836 in Sinnemahoning to Thomas, Holland. The two ladies were what we used to call "double cousins" because the mothers were sisters and their fathers were brothers. Andrew the original settler was a widower with six children when he arrived in America, and there is a second marriage in Philadelphia to an Elizabeth - so she would have been the Grandmother to the two ladies in question and the mother of Elizabeth Overturf Dent their Aunt and is likely the reason for the naming pattern. I hope this helps and doesn't confuse further - since I just rejoined the list and haven't read the messages I can't tell. Lauren Brantner
