Some recent messages have put us in touch with another branch of the family!!! For the longest time, we have been looking for my grandmother's Hanes family, and FINALLY, Dorothy Lewis has given us the answers we needed. Dorothy's great uncle, David C. Hanes, buried at West Creek, was also my great-grandfather. In addition to this news, Dorothy has told me she is willing to share the data she has on David's mother, Elizabeth Loucks Hanes Morgan, and her German heritage dating to the 1600's ( I didn't even know her name before!). I'm so psyched over all of this, and it is thanks to your great efforts to provide the vehicle for genealogists to get in touch with one another. Laura Bent had responded to Mike LaFaver and at first we believed there was a tie in her Hanes family history (and we may still find it), but then Dorothy responded as well, and that definitely is a connection. I've also been in touch with Mike and learned he lives only a few miles from us, so we hope to get together. He lists family members from Bruce's ancestry, as well as mine, in his data base.
