Hello Everyone: In going over the info under James Jordan (1-4), I have found something that has me Wondering! Under Mary Jordan #9 cir 1815 has married a John Overturf (no dates). Their daughter Elizabeth #42 has married a George W Smith cir 1808 (no other info). IF Mary was 16 when she had Elizabeth, that would make Elizabeth born cir 1821. George's first child was born in 1834, so that would make Elizabeth 13 when first child was born. Even in that era I don't think the parents would have let her marry at 13 & especially to a man older than themselves. Some have Elizabeth, Mary's sister, married to George. The census & the James Jordan history (Elizabeth also known as Betsy in census) is married to Thomas Holland a minister (the ages in the history & 1850 & 60 census are consistent for her). In the 1860 census ther is no wife for George W Smith. (my grandmother said that her grandmother Smith had passed away before her parents married circa 1875. Please understand that I am not trying to cause any TROUBLE, (& that the person who did most of this family history work is no longer with us), but there were some items that came to my attention & it just happened to be my particular ancestor. Thank you for your help in getting to the facts of John Scott Smith who was born Oct 1847 & is most likely the son of George W & Elizabeth ?? ? ?? Smith. . Thank you Linda Bauman
