    3. I have the papers from Cameron County Press and I ran across a Nanny's Run. The names are not familiar to me can anyone give me an idea where Nanny's Run is? Speakers in the eastern part of the Lower North (including Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, and Pennsylvania) use the word run, as in Bull Run. Speakers in New York State are liable to call such a stream a kill (a Dutch borrowing). Brook has come to be used throughout the Northeast. Southerners refer to a branch, and throughout the northern United States the term is crick, a variant of creek. > > ———————————————————— > > hol·low (h¼l"½) > > Appalachian Mountains. 3. From Royally Rugged Cameron County Nanny Run named after Billy Nanny who settled there about 1806.
