    3. I feel compelled to air this subject one last time. Several years ago I wanted to transcribe the headstones of Newton Cemetery. I contacted Jim Miller about looking through his records as I believe he was the secretary of either the cemetery or the Historical Society at the time. He never had the courtesy to respond to my letter but I understand he was miffed because I suggested that I would bring a computer to Emporium to copy his records. Apparently not too many people in Emporium care for computers. (It seems I have some spies in Emporium, basically my relatives.) I was finally able to secure, for a small fee, a copy of the document listing those buried in Newton from Sandy Hornung. The copy she made and sent to me was corrected, added to, and written over in almost every blank space. I had to re-type the entire document so that I could read it and get it into some sort of readable order. After I walked the cemetery and noted the names on headstones that had not been included in the list I got from Sandy, I retyped the new list on clean white paper and even made a copy that I offered to Sandy FOR FREE only to have her turn me down. I was absolutely floored. And I would bet that she is STILL copying that old overwritten copy to anyone requesting a copy of the burials. Apparently she doesn't think much of computers, either, and she's only 1 year older than I am. (Honestly, I think my life would be very dull without my computer.) Unfortunately there are probably people out there who do not realize that the burials are all listed on the Cameron Co. website and can be searched for free. I never realized there were so many cemeteries in Cameron Co. I have the OLD list of burials for St. Marks Cemetery in my possession, thanks to Mike, and plan to start working on it for inclusion on the website as soon as I finish the 1880 census and the 1900 census. (Also have the 1920 census to do, as well.) All in good time. I will never die because I have too much to do and will probably never fiish. Here's to a more forward-looking group of people. Good luck with changing the mind-set of the Historical Society. You may have to wait a full generation before anything meaningful happens.
