Hi. I am a new member and am researching the Hacketts, mostly from Emporium. My husband's ancestor was Seymour Hackett, the editor of the "Independent." My daughter and I have assembled a rather lengthy family tree based on newspaper articles we found in Levi Hackett's family Bible, which we have, and research we have done on the internet. Levi was Seymour's son. Bob, we have an Elsie Hackett, daughter of Theodore, who was another son of Seymour, who married Bert Spellenburg. In 1925 Elsie and Bert were living in Sheffield and had a son. Through our research we have found two second cousins we never knew about, one in Tennessee and one in Florida. We have become e-mail friends. We would welcome hearing from other possible relatives. By the way, in the Bible we also found many articles about Levi's wife's family, the Murry's. The last one we know about is Frank Murry in St. Marys. We would love to find any descendants of Rachel Murry. Thanks. Barbara Hackett

The census I found was the 1863 Septennial Census. It will be online soon. The so-called Pennsylvania Septennial Census, was taken from 1779 to 1863 and bears the name of census but looks more like a tax list. These records - relatively few of which have survived - were generated to enumerate taxpayers for the purpose of determining representation in the state legislature. The septennial census returns usually list only the names and occupations of taxables. This would be the first and last Septennial Census for Cameron County.
