    3. You came through loud and clear this time Helen...do it just like this all the time! "Reply to All" is the answer. The only thing I ever get is notes, news, and reminders from Mike. Not that I mind, but I joined this list to be a part of an active group. Even when I respond to Mike, the group does not see it my response unless I hit reply all. I didn't used to have to do that. I was wondering if perhaps I should remove myself from the list and then sign up again? Does anyone have any feedback or suggestions for me? Thanks for any help. 3. There is nothing strange about the way this list is set up. There is an option in the set up of the list to reply only to the sender or reply to the entire list. Most lists are set up to reply only to the sender, which I believe restricts participation. Like on this list, we have about 100+ people who only lurk hoping something of interest comes along, from time to time something of interest does come along in a reply to someone else's question....so by replying only to sender would exclude those people. I like including everyone. For some reason when I post to the list, you must "reply to all" in order for your response to go out to the list. I do not know why and rootsweb does not know why. 3. HELEN: Is right, there is something strange about the way this list is set up. All the messages from any one but Mike seem to have the line " Reply-To: [email protected]" One those you can only reply to [email protected] unless you copy and paste the others persons name in. Most other list we belong to do not have that line. And you can reply to the list or just to the person. Even the Clearfield county list does not have that line. Why?????????????? 1. [PA-CAMERON] Elizabeth OVERTURF
    2. Lauren Brantner
    3. I haven't been monitoring this group for awhile, but one of my research buddies contacted me about a discussion of Elizabeth OVERTURF. I am a direct descendant of Andrew Overturf who settled in Gibson twp. somewhere between 1800 and 1804 depending on what source you read. Andrew had two sons, John and Andrew II and three daughters: Elizabeth Overturf Dent, Catherine Overturf Mix and Susannah Overturf Shepard. Andrew II and John married sisters Hannah and Mary Jordan, daughters of James and Mercy Emry Jordan. Each of them had a daughter Elizabeth. John's daughter Elizabeth married George W. Smith and I have an approximate birth date of 1808 for her. Andrew II's daughter Elizabeth was born 9 July 1813 and was married 10 January 1836 in Sinnemahoning to Thomas, Holland. The two ladies were what we used to call "double cousins" because the mothers were sisters and their fathers were brothers. Andrew the original settler was a widower with six children when he arrived in America, and there is a second marriage in Philadelphia to an Elizabeth - so she would have been the Grandmother to the two ladies in question and the mother of Elizabeth Overturf Dent their Aunt and is likely the reason for the naming pattern. I hope this helps and doesn't confuse further - since I just rejoined the list and haven't read the messages I can't tell. Lauren Brantner

    1. [PA-CAMERON] (no subject)
    2. Hello Everyone: In going over the info under James Jordan (1-4), I have found something that has me Wondering! Under Mary Jordan #9 cir 1815 has married a John Overturf (no dates). Their daughter Elizabeth #42 has married a George W Smith cir 1808 (no other info). IF Mary was 16 when she had Elizabeth, that would make Elizabeth born cir 1821. George's first child was born in 1834, so that would make Elizabeth 13 when first child was born. Even in that era I don't think the parents would have let her marry at 13 & especially to a man older than themselves. Some have Elizabeth, Mary's sister, married to George. The census & the James Jordan history (Elizabeth also known as Betsy in census) is married to Thomas Holland a minister (the ages in the history & 1850 & 60 census are consistent for her). In the 1860 census ther is no wife for George W Smith. (my grandmother said that her grandmother Smith had passed away before her parents married circa 1875. Please understand that I am not trying to cause any TROUBLE, (& that the person who did most of this family history work is no longer with us), but there were some items that came to my attention & it just happened to be my particular ancestor. Thank you for your help in getting to the facts of John Scott Smith who was born Oct 1847 & is most likely the son of George W & Elizabeth ?? ? ?? Smith. . Thank you Linda Bauman

    3. Mike I have been reading a lot on the web site since I saw all the updates and everything going on. I really like what is happening for Emporium and the Cameron Couny information for all of us. I have been researching the Barker's for sometime and have the information clear back to England - about 150 pages from then to now and still growing. I would like to do something up for the family on the web site. Mike Neyman has been helping me on sending pic's and information from the paper that appear. I have articles from the Historical Society (years ago) I gathered all of that. I have been tracking stories and all sorts of things that pertain to our family to present it to family members at the Reunion (hopefully) this year. Mike's wife was so kind that she bought me the CD as a x-mas present - I just loved it. Merrick Barker walked out of the Courthouse to get filmed. I can't wait till I can get over to show it to my parents as they both grew up in Emporium. If you can let me know what or how much information and pic's and how to send it in for the web site - I would really appreciate it Sue (Barker) Bemiller Johnstown, Ohio

Some recent messages have put us in touch with another branch of the family!!! For the longest time, we have been looking for my grandmother's Hanes family, and FINALLY, Dorothy Lewis has given us the answers we needed. Dorothy's great uncle, David C. Hanes, buried at West Creek, was also my great-grandfather. In addition to this news, Dorothy has told me she is willing to share the data she has on David's mother, Elizabeth Loucks Hanes Morgan, and her German heritage dating to the 1600's ( I didn't even know her name before!). I'm so psyched over all of this, and it is thanks to your great efforts to provide the vehicle for genealogists to get in touch with one another. Laura Bent had responded to Mike LaFaver and at first we believed there was a tie in her Hanes family history (and we may still find it), but then Dorothy responded as well, and that definitely is a connection. I've also been in touch with Mike and learned he lives only a few miles from us, so we hope to get together. He lists family members from Bruce's ancestry, as well as mine, in his data base. Such a small world the Internet has enabled us to become. Thanks, again, for all you are doing for Cameron County genealogists and their families.
