McMullen, 92, McMullen Road, Ashville, died Tuesday at home. He was born in Ashville RD, son of the late Gallitzin and Bertha (Sutton) McMullen. He married Sarah Watt on Feb. 14, 1942, in Ashville. Surviving are his wife of 68 years; six children: Wayne (Ilene McNulty) of Ebensburg, James (Ilene Byrne) and Emma McMullen, both of Ashville, Patty Kibler (Dave) and Margaret Whiteford (Lenny), both of Patton, and Agnes Lynch (Andy) of Coupon; a daughter-in-law, Mary (Farabaugh) McMullen of Ashville; two sons-in-law: Tim Lengyel (Susan) of Mercer and Phil Leise (Cathy) of Hadley; 35 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and 10 godchildren. Charlie was the last member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by twin daughters: Teresa Lengyel and Catherine Leise; a son, John "Jack"; an infant grandson, Joseph Anthony McMullen; a granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Leise; and eight siblings: Leo, Earl, Susan Kalinowski, Clair, Vincent, Albert, Helen Noll and Marie. Charlie was a lifelong farmer and worked as a substitute mail carrier. He served for 26 years as a Clearfield Township supervisor. He was a member of the NRA, Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, Prince Gallitzin Senior Citizens, Chest Springs, Holy Name Society and St. Monica Catholic Church, Chest Springs. Charlie was an avid hunter and enjoyed playing cards and fixing things. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011, at Gibbons Funeral Home, Ashville, where a vigil service will be held Thursday afternoon. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2011, at St. Monica Catholic Church, Chest Springs, the Rev. Joseph Fleming as celebrant. Committal will be in the church cemetery.
