WISSINGER Mr. Wissinger of Phoenix, Ariz., died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 1990, at a Phoenix veterans hospital, after an extended illness. Known as Gene, Mr. Wissinger retired as a self-employed well drilling contractor in the Phoenix area. Prior to that he was affiliated with Wissinger Brothers Well and Pump Co. He was born in Altoona, the son of Walter G. and Bertha (Reed) Wissinger, and Sept. 27, 1946, married Mary Louise Weakland. Surviving are his wife of Coalport, five children: Jana Sacolic of Coalport, Marlyn in North Carolina, Erla of Colorado Springs, Colo.: Erin Litzinger of Patton and John of Van Ormer; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are six brothers and sisters: Walter J., Helen Luckner, Shirley Ulrich and Donn of San Diego, Calif.; and Audrey Burchfield and Herbert A. of Altoona. Mr. Wissinger served with the United States Marine Corps in Guadalcanal and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Interment was made near Phoenix. She was born May 12, 1925, in Patton, the daughter of Gilbert and Madge (McCoy) Weakland. She married Marlyn Eugene Wissinger. He died in 1990. Surviving are five children: Jana Sacolic of Coalport, Erla Flynn of Naperville, Ill., Marlyn E. Jr. of Fuquay-Varina, N.C., Erin Litzinger of Patton and John of Flinton; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters and a brother: Dolores Stasko, of Patton RD, Nancy Stitts of Cleveland, Ohio; Anna Mae Cunningham of Hollidaysburg, and Gilbert of Elmira, N.Y. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to noon today at Stevens Funeral Home, Patton. WISSINGER -- Services for Mary Louise Wissinger of Coalport RD1 will be held at noon today at Stevens Funeral Home Inc., Patton, by the Rev. Gary Grau. Interment at St Mary’s Cemetery, Patton.
