Some genealogy programs make entries difficult for entering alternative relationship and I have asked RM if they were going to update their setup and the below was their reply to me. I know FTM addresses it somewhat but I think there needs to be more options for the USER of a genealogy program to choose or name the category rather than the program dictating it. I wish they would address this issue about marriage options and to set whether it is partnership/marriage/companions/friends/etc and to allow the USER to NAME that category rather than the program doing so since times are in flux on all of these issues.
