She died 4 Feb 1899, and soon thereafter, my grandmother returned to Altoona. Reed. After the death of his second wife, he remarried a third time to an old friend named "Marjorie." They had no children, but Marjorie had five adult children by a former marriage. Allen Reed fell and broke his hip in 1930 and died from Pneumonia due to complications from his injury. OBITUARY Altoona Tribune, Monday, 27 January 1930 ALLEN J. REED Allen J. Reed, well known to many friends as "Daddy" Reed, died Saturday 2:45 a.m. at a local hospital, as a result of a fall January 18, in which his left hip was broken. Pneumonia ensued, causing death. Mr. Reed was a son of Benjamin and Harriet Allen Reed, born at Hollidaysburg, March 7, 1855. He came to Altoona more than 50 years ago, working first for the P. R. R., then for the Altoona Iron company and later as elevator operator for the Schwarzenbach-Huber company. He was a life long member of the Lutheran church. He had been thrice married, first to Miss Anne Elizabeth Weaver, who died in 1899, then to Miss Mary Knipple, who died in 1905 and last to Mrs. Marguerite Rupp, who died six months ago. Surviving are a son and daughter, James D. Reed and Mrs. W. G. Wissinger, Altoona; one step daughter and four step sons: Mrs. Frank Hart, Claude, Paul and William Rupp, Altoona; Clarence Rupp, in Ohio; 20 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; a brother and two sisters: B. B. Reed, Mrs. Nannie Stiffler and Mrs. Thomas Ray, Altoona. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, 2 p.m. in the Steven’s memorial chapel, where the body may be viewed this morning and until the service, which will be in charge of the Rev. C. H. Patterson and Rev. B. F. Waltz. She was aged 45 years and was twice married. To her first husband five children were born, all of whom survive as follows: Charles Knepp of Mill Creek, W. Va., Howard and Myrtle Knepp of Altoona, William and Elmer Knepp of Bedford county. One son, James D. Reed, survives to the second union. The deceased attended the Grace Reformed church. Funeral services will be held at her late home tomorrow afternoon at 1:30. MARGARET EMMA REED Wife of Allen Reed died at her home, 3215 Walnut avenue, at 8:45 o’clock last night of heart trouble after a number of years illness. She had been bedfast for the past three months. Mrs. Reed was born in Antis township, March 8, 1859, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Reigh, and was twice married, first to Philip Rupp and then after his death to Allen Reed. Surviving are her husband and the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Alice Hart, William S. Rupp, Claud E. Rupp, Paul C. Rupp all of this city. Charles Rupp of Akron, Ohio and Mrs. Myrtle Madison of Birmingham, and two step-children, Mrs. Bertha Wissinger and James D. Reed of this city. Two brothers and one sister, Harvey Reigh of Antis, Frank of Bellwood, and Mrs. Sally Olsen of Miami, Fla., eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive. She was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance church. The body may be viewed at the Stevens mortuary where funeral activites will be held Sunday afternoon. Interment will be made in Carson Valley cemetery.
