    3. Jacob Kring Jacob Kring, of Adams township, this county, died at 2 o’clock Friday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Edward Shank in Salix. He was a farmer but gave up his work a few years ago. The cause of his death was dropsy from which he suffered over three months. The deceased was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kring, two of the settlers of Richland township, from which Adams township was formed. It was in the former township that Jacob Kring was born 76 years ago and he spent his entire life in that vicinity. His brother, Frederick, lives in the Seventeenth ward, Johnstown, and Daniel resides in Los Angeles, Cal., these being the only surviving members of the family of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kring, who have been dead for many years, the father passing away in 1877. Jacob Kring was married in Adams township to Miss Lydia Grumbling who died 10 or 12 years ago. He is survived by three sons and three daughters: George of Salix, Jacob, David and Jennie, wife of Sylvester Arthur, all of the Seventeenth ward, Johnstown; Catherine, wife of Jacob Rhoades of Adams township, and Lydia, wife of Edward Shank at whose home Mr. Kring died. Mr. Kring is survived also by 23 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The funeral took place at 3 o’clock Saturday afternoon. The services were conducted by the Rev. M. E. Borger of Salix, the Rev. J. Q. A. Curry of South Fork. Interment was made in the Salix cemetery.
