Need some input here. Have been searching for several years the info on a cousin, Elizabeth Bendon; d/o Thomas Bendon/Benden and Lydia Jane Miller Bendon/Benden. According to what I have found Elizabeth was born in 1844. She married John H. Myers in 1861. This is the obit I found on John H. Meyers in IN. Veteran John H. Myers is called in death Columbia City, Ind., Sept. 24. John H Meyers, nearly sixty-eight years of age, a native of Prussia and a soldier for the union in the war of the rebellion, died at his home just east of this city at 2 o'clock Sunday morning. His death was due to kidney and bladder trouble, from which he had been confined to his bed the past six weeks and which has afflicted him for several years. Born in Prussia in 1838, he came to Ohio with an uncle when he was four years old and grew to manhood in Ohio. Later he took up his abode in Pennsylvania and was married in 1861 to Elizabeth Bendon, her death occuring fifteen years later. Three sons of this marriage survive the father and mother, namely; Henry of this city, William at South Bend, and John at Carltown, Pa. He was married in 1877 to Mrs. Sarah Parkinson, of this city and she was called by death in 1899. Six sons of this marriage are still living-- Charles, Arthur, Frank, Jesse, Russell, at home, and Elmer, in the United States army service at New Orleans. The deceased served his country fathfully for three years as a member of Company B of the Fifty-third Pennsylvania Regiment, coming to Indiana at the close of the war. He was a member of the Stough G. A. R. post of this city and six of his comrades will act as pall-bearers at the funeral, to be held Tuesday morning at the Myers home. The funeral service wil be conducted by Rev. L. L. Shaffer, pastor of Columbia City United Brethren church, interment at Compton. Would greatly appreciate any help in clarifying this info. Thanking you in advance. Jo Mercer, So. Central Mo.
