In previous posts, I mentioned that Michael J McCullough, son of John McCullough & Bridget Hagan was married twice. Finally found the maiden name of his first wife. His first marriage, cir 1885, was to Mary L McGough, born Feb 1863. Their children with most birth dates from 1900 & 1910 census: Bertha M, born 8 May 1886 (date from obit) Emma E, born Nov 1887 George T, born May 1889 John B, born Dec 1890 Demetrius A, born April 1895 Leo M, born Dec 19, 1899 (date from obit) Edith M, born cir 1902 Charles K, born cir 1906 Mary L McGough McCullough is buried at St. Michael's, Loretto with no dates on her headstone, but she died after the 1910 census and before the 1920 census. Michael J married Mary Montgomery Platt after June 1921, probably late 1921 or early 1922. He died 16 Sept 1924 and is buried at St. Michael's, Loretto. Published in the obituary of his son, Leo M is "He was born Dec. 19, 1899, at Chest Springs, the son of Michael and Mary (McGough) McCullough." I know nothing of the McGough family, but I did find one Mary McGough in Cambria Co. 1880 census - Mary McGough, age 19 [1861], a servant in the home of Demetrius McGough, age 35 in Allegheny Twp. 1870 census -Mary McGough, age 6 [1864] in the home of Thomas (35 [1835]), a painter & Mary (32 [1838]) McGough and Herbert (4) and Robert (2) in Johnstown. 1860 census- Thomas McGough (25 [1835]), painter, in the home of Gale Heslap, Master painter, in Johnstown. 1850 census - Thomas McGough (16 [1834]), in the home of James (47[1803]) & Sophia (48 [1802]) McGough and other children Esther (23), Rachel (20), William (18), Philip (14), Eliza (11), Elizabeth (9), Sophia (7) and John (5), Summerhill Twp. There is no evidence that Mary L McGough was born in or lived in Cambria Co. prior to her marriage, but that's the only place I looked. I will post Leo's obit. I am far behind on transcribing, but do post those obits I purchase or have copied from Mom's collection. Regards, Jane Tripp
