O'NEIL - Simon O'Neil, son of Mr. Peter O'Neil, of Cambria County, was > killed in the locomotive yards of the Pittsburgh, Fort Wayne and Chicago > railroad at Chicago, last week, and his remains were brought home and > buried at Loretto on Saturday. This is the young man for whose parents > "inquiries" were directed to Chief Powell from Chicago, by which means the > information of his death was conveyed to his parents. He was employed as a > fireman on a shifting engine, which was thrown from the track by a > misplaced switch. Th engineer received injuries at the same time, which > were pronounced fatal by the attending physician. The man whose criminal > carelessness caused the accident by the misplacement of the switch, has > been put behind the bars, to await an indictment for murder, which in due > time will be brought forward for him to plead to.
