Friday, October 28, 1910 Volume 44, Number 42 Williams Not to Answer For Crime in Earthly Court Murderer of Johnstown Woman Goes to Face Judge in Highest Court Died of Consumption William Williams, Jr., of Johnstown, who murdered Mrs. Jennie Pringle in the Washington building, Johnstown, several weeks ago is dead. His death occurred at the home of his sister, Mrs. Cassiday of Barnesboro. Consumption was the cause. “They’ll never hang me,” said Williams when brought to jail here. “I’ll be dead in a few weeks.” His prediction came true. He was released from jail on bail about 10 days ago. He walked from the jail to a wagon but his strength was not good and when he reached his sister’s home he sank rapidly. Williams walked into his wife’s room in the Washington building, Johnstown, one day a couple of months ago. There he found his wife and the Pringle woman. The fellow seized the Pringle woman, threw her to the floor and hacked and cut at her throat. His wife jumped through a glass door and escaped. When the police arrived they found the dead body of Mrs. Pringle and also that of Williams, who had cut his throat. The murderer was taken to the Memorial Hospital. The wound in his neck never healed and until the time of his death he breathed partly through a hole in this throat. Richard Hall Richard Hall, aged 93 years, died at his home in Shirley Township, Huntington County, Friday last. He was a native of the county and is survived by a number of children. William Swallow Falling from the roof of his residence last Saturday, William Swallow, aged 72 years of Williamsport, sustained a fracture of the skull and died in the hospital in that city a short time later. The roof was being re-shingled and Swallow was helping do the work. Charles M. Davis Charles M. Davis, a car inspector, was found dead at the side of the tracks of the Buffalo, Rochester and Pittsburg railroad in DuBois last Friday night. It is supposed that he fell from a car. His body was without a scratch and death was caused by his neck being broken. Found Dead in Woods Lilly, Oct. 26 The body of Simon Mussleman, a 67-year-old woodsman, was found in the woods where he had been working yesterday afternoon. His failure to return home excited anxiety and a search revealed him sitting beside a tree, which he had started to saw. The deceased is survived by two sons and six daughters. The funeral will be held this afternoon from the Lutheran Church, interment in Lillydale Cemetery. Young Boy Killed Hastings, Oct. 25 Fearful lest his mother should whip him for failure to care for the younger children during her absence, Robert Campbell, a nine-year-old boy living at the edge of town, never mentioned that he had fallen from a third story window at their home several days ago. He was buried this morning, his death being caused by spinal meningitis, following the accident. Woman Hangs Herself Indiana, Oct. 25 Constant grieving for her mother who died six weeks ago was responsible for the suicide of Miss Jeannette Adamson, aged 27, at the home of her father, James Adamson at Earnest yesterday morning. Getting up early she secured a rope, made a noose in one end and fastened the other end over a door. Slipping the noose over her head she jumped from a chair. Her neck was broken. Young Tuberculosis Victim Esther, the fourteen-year-old daughter of Mrs. Theodosia Campbell of the Centre ward, died at 5 o’clock Thursday morning from tuberculosis after an extended illness. The little girl is survived by her mother and a brother, Stanley. Her father died in Blacklick Township about nine years ago. The funeral will be held on Saturday afternoon at 4 o’clock with services at the house in charge of Rev. F. I. Sigmund, pastor of the Ebensburg Baptist Church. Interment will be made at the Bethel Cemetery. George W. Serle George W. Serle, a veteran of the Civil War, died at his home in Beech Creek last Thursday. He was 68 years of age. Patrick Dolan Patrick Dolan, formerly president of District No. 5, United Mine Workers of America with headquarters in Pittsburg, and one of the best known labor leaders in the country, was struck by a train in Pittsburg last Saturday night and so badly hurt that he died a few minutes later.
