    1. [PACAMBRI] Moore Family (Bendon, Gainer, links)
    2. James Clark
    3. I have gotten my self into the weeds and I am hoping someone may be able to help me out.   I am researching Harry George MOORE (1894-1934) who married Beatrice Marie Myers.   As far as I have been told he was adopted by John Moore and Isabelle (Isabella, Bella Bendon)  I find John and Isabelle and the year of birth changes from census to census.  from John being around 1843 and Isabelle being closer to 1844-48  From the 1900 to the 1910 census for Tunnel Hill John goes from being 4 years older to 3 years younger than Isabelle.  In 1920 John is a year older.  (Still on Tunnel Hill.)    My Great Aunt (Harry's Daughter) still lives on Tunnel Hill and in speaking with her a few years ago she said that John and Isabelle had no other children.  But I stumbled upon a John R. Moore who seems to fit into the puzzle.  But he had a daughter Bertha Moore in 1876. He also had a number of brothers and sisters and I find some overlap but I am not sure if these are two different people.    As a follow up I was also told that Harry's birth parents were James Gainer and Sarah or "Sadie" She mentions that Sarah was married about 5 times, and it seems from my notes and the recording I took that her last names included Gainer, and it sounded like Crawford, and Weaver were two others.  (It was a quick laughing mention and I didn't realize at the time how important it would be -  Out of respect I didn't want to push on what used to be considered more family secrets)  At first I was told that James died by his own hand, but now it may be that it was some sort of accident. I have very few links or leads to go on.  I have searched Cambria and Indiana Counties, and don't see anything for them.  The only link maybe a Sarah Moore that would have been a niece of John and Isabella as it seems that family would take care of family, but other than seeing the name in the tree if I have the correct John Moore, it is nothing more than a guess.     If anyone has any overlap or insight into this, or even so additional avenues that may be work looking into I would greatly appreciate it.   Thank you,   James Clark

    1. [PACAMBRI] SCHANTZ and JOHNSTOWN by John Meise
    2. marilyn
    3. I mentioned a book written just before the First World War of a history of the Germans of Johnstown. Someone asked me the name of the publication, which is given here. SCHANTZ and JOHNSTOWN -- A Souvenir for the Dedication of the Joseph Schantz Monument In Connection with the Fourteenth Convention of the German American Alliance of Pennsylvania. Published by the Schantz Memoria Committee Written and Designed by John Meise June 14,- 15 - 16 -, 1913 Johnstown, Pa. The book is written in both German and English on facing pages. Most of the material is about the City of Johnstown and Southern Cambria County, but there are separate sections on New Germany and the Northern Cambria German settlements in Carrolltown, St. Boniface and St. Lawrence. Note: The Foreword mentions not only research, but aid of historical works such as Storey's "History of Cambria County," Sherman Day's "recollections of Sketches of Pennsyvania," and Deandliker's "History of Switzerland, " in addition to old German and American newspapers. Does anyone know anything of local German newspapers? Marilyn Kline Washington

    1. [PACAMBRI] Maimones Building 1912 & The City Restaurant in Cresson 1925
    2. JCTripp
    3. I have a photo of my great-grandparents in Bakertown in 1912, managing the restaurant and upstairs theatre in a two story building built about 1903 by Mr. John Devers. Mr. Devers wife wanted to operate a theatre. She called it "The Nixon Theatre". After she left, the first to take over the second floor theatre and a first floor restaurant were my great-grandparents, Seymore S & Rosie Osborn. They left for Cresson and others took over until the Maimones - Peter & his wife Margaret ran the restaurant turned to grocery store on the first floor. (All information from Frances Inzana's "Bakerton (Elmora) A Century Remembered 1889-1989".) This photo is an indoor shot, so the name of the restaurant is unknown. There is an indoor sign reading *Osborn Dinner Special* (25 cents). Another photo I have is of my great-grandfather standing in front of "The Dreamland Theatre S S Osborn prop." on the permanent theatre sign. The picture show on the poster is one of a series of short movies titled "Our Mutual Girl". Family says this photo was taken in Cresson. Identified children, adults, and movie title hint a 1914-1915 photo. The theatre is connected perpendicularly to another with large sign "Quick Lunch". Family says Osborns managed both the theatre & restaurant in Cresson. The 1925 obit of Rosie Osborn states she was the wife of the proprietor of the City Restaurant in Cresson. Does anyone know where I can get more information on these locations. 1912 - Bakerton -The old Nixon Theatre, now the 1st floor restaurant managed by Osborns 1914-1915 - Cresson (so family says) "The Dreamland Theatre" next to "Quick Lunch" 1925 - Cresson's "City Restaurant" Mom remembered that she visited the Osborns at their business in Cresson near the railroad station. That would be early 1920s before Rosie died. That's all the clues I have. Thanks, Jane Tripp

The records were still there & we were able to get Wills & such within minutes! The woman who looked them up for us was extremely friendly. Can someone tell me if the Old Stone Jail still is a location for keeping records or has it been turned into just an Old Stone Jail Museum? Have the records been moved to another location? If so, where? Thank you Sharon ------------------------------ To contact the PACAMBRI list administrator, send an email to PACAMBRI-admin@rootsweb.com. 3. I was there about 2 years ago and they still had records there. The women there were very helpful and even showed us around a bit. For my particular family they had immigration records. 2. It has been a number of years since I have been to Ebensburg for family research. Can someone tell me if the Old Stone Jail still is a location for keeping records or has it been turned into just an Old Stone Jail Museum? Have the records been moved to another location? If so, where? Thank you Sharon
