I was on YouTube doing a search on World War 1 battles and one of the channels that popped up was YaleCourses, under the subject "War in the Trenches." This was lecture 17 of 24 in Yale University history class 202, European Civilization, 1648-1945. Under the video was the link: complete course materials are available at the Open Yale Courses website: http://open.yale.edu/courses There are 20 departments listed with at least one course per department. The History department is represented with 6 courses. I'm going with the idea that the majority of us have at least a passing interest in history as part of our genealogy research. These classes can be viewed on YouTube under YaleCourses, or at the Yale edu website. HIST 116 The American Revolution HIST 119 The Civil War and Reconstruction HIST 202 European Civilization, 1648-1945 HIST 234 Epidemics and Western Society Since 1600 HIST 251 Early Modern England ... under the Tudors and Stuarts HIST 276 France Since 1871 Click on any class heading and under each individual class is a download section, which will allow you to watch or download each lecture as a QT (QuickTime) movie or mp3 file. According to their website, tuition is $40,500 a year, and we've been given the opportunity to audit these classes for free. There may be other universities that also offer these educational opportunities, but Yale is the first one I've come across.

There was a Kuntzleman family in Cambria County. It was also spelled Kuncelman. Annie Kuntzelman daughter of John Kuntzelman, born 17 March 1878 Pittsburgh-26 December 1938 Dover DE; married George Conrad Bolan 1898 in Cambria County. They removed to Dover DE. Several Kuncelman's are listed on Cambria County Message Board. Possibly a different line of Kuntzelman's. The Centre County Genealogical Society is pleased to announce the availability of a new publication: Delayed Birth Records of Centre County, PA Data DVD (PDF). 2011. Contributions by Nancy Lee Stover, Judith Heald, Ellen and Lee Copper, and Kimberly Barton and staff. This data DVD contains PDF images of approximately 3600 birth records issued by the Orphans' Court of Centre County from 1941 through 1996. These records are for individuals born in Centre County before Jan. 1, 1906 who did not previously have a birth certificate or whose previously issued birth certificate contained errors. Although most of these records are for births occurring between 1893 and January 1, 1906 (the years for which there are county birth registers), there are also records for much earlier births. Most of the certificates contain considerable data about the individual and his or her parents, such as: full name; date and place of birth, order of birth if of a multiple birth, whether the mother was married to the father, signature and present address of applicant, sex; for each parent: the name, color or race, age at the time of this birth, birthplace, occupation, present address. Also included were affidavits from relatives or friends attesting to the accuracy of the data presented, or a statement from a church official regarding the birth information. Included on the disk with the images of the certificates is an index to the names of the applicants and of their parents. Please note that this is a data DVD which will play on a computer, not on a television. Prices and ordering information may be found at: http://www.centrecountygenealogy.org/Publications.html

Hello Folks: It's once again time for the RICHARDSON-MILLER Family Reunion!!! Many of our family members are found in Juniata County, PA. where the family originated, but over the many years have dispersed to Perry County, Mifflin County, Cumberland County, Dauphin County, Adams County, York County, Huntingdon County, Franklin County, Blair County - and so many others in Pennsylvania... as well as several families moved Westward... some settling in Black Stump Draw near Clearmont, Wyoming and even beyond. We'd really like to reunite our family and hope that through County List postings we will be able to get the word out. The 77th Annual RICHARDSON-MILLER Family Reunion will be held on Sunday, August 21, 2011 in the Pavillion #5 in the Big Spring State Park in Toboyne Twp., Perry Co., PA.. Eating at 1:00 p.m. The reunion will be supplying the baked ham... which Jim and Tanya Warner will be preparing for us. It's always so mmmmmm good! Also provided will be drinks, cups and place settings. Each person / family in attendance should bring a covered dish or two to share, tablecloth, their appetites and wrapped items for our Annual Dirty Bingo and the White Elephant Sale... to benefit the reunion expenses. THANKS! Donna Heller Zinn Historian for the Richardson-Miller Reunion [email protected]
In my younger days (late 1950s or 1960s?) I recall Prospect as being a rather run down area, at least from the main street through the area on the way to downtown Johnstown and crossing the l-shaped bridge behind the Penn Traffic store and Bethlehem office building. I believe that even in those days the Prospect elementary school was empty (??? or else run down like the rest of the area). I also recall an accident where a freight truck lost its brakes and rolled over in Prospect, I believe killing several children that it rolled on. That incident always comes to mind when I hear Harry Chapin's song about 40,000 pounds of bananas. I left Johnstown in 1970 when I married and moved away, so except for brief visits to my parents' home after that, all of my memories are pre 1970. We often drove through Prospect returning from my grandparents home. That is a good thought. I guess since I just bought new checks and have about 100 of them, it is just worth writing separate checks. Thank you Sharon In a message dated 7/31/2011 5:14:11 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, [email protected] writes: I ordered 3 in Feb and it took I think 13 weeks to get them. I wrote separate checks and two came one day and one several days later. That one they couldn't find a death cert even though I have the name, place and date and place of burial. Very odd. I always write separate checks so that if there is a problem with one, it won't hold up the other. Don't know if it works, but figured it couldn't hurt.
