Family records list my great-grandfather as being born in Isle, Butler County, PA. I have been unable to confirm such a location. Would anyone have any information as to whether such a town existed? Jack McNees
I believe it is under the waters of Lake Arthur at this time.
Isle was in FranklinTwp, Butler County. It was a small coal-mining town. The few houses there were removed so that they could flood the area to make Lake Arthur. The Mt. Zion Baptist Church & cemetery are still there. Who was your great-grandfather? Do you still need information about him? Diana
Hi Jack, I have photos of the town of Isle before Lake Arthur came into existence. If no one else has contacted you on this please let me know and I can give you copies of what I have. Who was your great grandfather as the Prospect Area Preservation Society has been collecting information of the area and we could have information available to you or perhaps you could add to our collection. Hi Does anyone know if there was a home for the mental or slow women in the Butler area in the 1920's? Thanks Cindy _________________________________________________________________ Hotmail has tools for the New Busy.
