    1. [PABUTLER] Cemetery Tour
    2. Pat
    3. The Butler County Historical Society invites you to join us Sunday, October 4, 2009, at 1:00 p.m., as Dr. Thomas Hannon takes us on an afternoon cemetery tour. Included in this tour will be the Snyder Family Cemetery, located in Moraine State Park, Wolf Creek Cemetery, located at Moore's Corners, and the Slippery Rock Cemetery. Dr. Hannon will be discussing the gravestones and history of these cemeteries. Today, death and the handling of human remains mean something entirely different than it did in the 19th century. Today, you may be buried in your favorite sport team's coffin or have your ashes spread over your favorite mountain top; but in the 19th century to meet the Creator, the preferred method was to be interred in a church or family cemetery - facing in an easterly direction. One wouldn't want to face the wrong direction and possibly languish in the netherworlds! Cost is $20.00 per person and includes travel between the cemetery locations via school bus. The tour should conclude by 4:30 p.m. For more information, please call the Society Office at 724-283-8116, Tuesday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. Deadline for reservations is Friday, October 2, 2009. All proceeds benefit the Butler County Historical Society.

    3. I live in Washington state and regret that I cannot take part in the cemetery tour. I think I have relatives buried at the Wolf Creek Cemetery..Wimers and Coopers. Is there a list of those buried there? If so, would be glad to send a donation in order to receive it. I grew up in Brady township not far from the Snyder cemetery.
