According to information I've gleaned from other people researching the Glenn family, the patriarch John Glenn (1741-1819/20) was born in Ulster, Ireland and married first to someone named Anne and their offspring were indeed the "Kentucky Glenns." Then, John married Mary Diven (1741/51-1820), daughter of Alexander and Margaret (Smith) Diven. Together, they had the following children: Jane (1770-1830) who married Thomas McClymonds Robert (1773-1833) married Martha Borland, daughter of John Bor(e)land and Catherine Montgomery Elizabeth (b. 1774) married James Glenn Mary Ann (1775-1833) married ? Montgomery James (1777/78-1848) married Mary/Margaret Borland, sister of Martha Nancy married Henry Mowms Joseph (1787-1852) married Mary Thompson John, Jr. (1794-1864) married Eleanor Newell, Hannah McClymonds, and Catherine McPherson Alexander I noticed that I had several names similar, but belonging to different generations than what I had. Does anyone know where MARY DIVEN fits in??? Does anyone know the parentage of John Glenn, Sr? One source had it listed as James Glenn, spouse unknown; another had it as Thomas Glenn and Christiana Wilson.
