Iris and Paula, I have a William H. Martin in my line and have been trying to connect him with another Martin line in Butler County, but I am having no luck. He was born in the early 1830s (May 1832?) in Pennsylvania. His parents were born in Ireland, but I have no names. In the mid-1850s he married Eliza Schlagel and lived in Meridian. They had six children - Isabelle, Elizabeth, Jane, Ida May, Charles F. and William H. Jr. In the late 1890s they moved to Pittsburgh with their two sons and died in the early 1900s. Do any of these names appear in your lines? Here is what I have on the Martin's you mentioned from Whitestown. I believe most of the information came from the Robert K. McGowan descendants. The information is a little different than what you have. 1. William MARTIN, native of Ireland, settled 1801 in Lancaster Township, Butler County married to Elizabeth Unknown. 2. Robert MARTIN (1773-1847) married 1808 Keziah McCLURE (1780-1843) Robert settled in Connoquenessing Township in 1809, and was Captain in War of 1812 3. William C. MARTIN (1809-1896) married MARGARET BRYSON (1813-1850) 4. Joseph Bryce (probably Bryson) MARTIN (1839-1916) married Elizabaeth RALSTON (1844-1913) J.B. MARTIN served in Civil War, he left a Diary that may be in the possession of Gladys McGOWAN. J.B. MARTIN served in the war with Samuel WRIGHT b. 1843. J.B. MARTIN's signature is on Samuel WRIGHT's application for Civil War Pension. I believe these MARTIN's lived just north of the Mt. Nebo Church, and possibly the brick was made on this farm to build the church. 5. Aurelia Belle MARTIN b. 1873 Whitestown, d. 1948 married William GIBSON 1867 Connoquenessing Township, d. 1940 (These Gibson's related to Girty's) 6. Margaret Frances GIBSON (Nov 13, 1897, ) married George Robert McGOWAN (Nov 2, 1893 Connoquenessing Township) George was s/o Robert K. McGOWAN b. 1860 Renfrew and Sylvia Lauretta STEWART b. 1869 Renfrew. Robert K. MCGOWAN was a HALF brother to the above Samuel WRIGHT b. 1843. Samuel married #1. Catherine A. McGOWAN, b. abt 1848 d. July 21, 1876, buried White Oak Springs Church . Catherine was d/o John McGOWAN b. abt 1800, Unknown (Whitestown). Samuel married #2 Laura McGOWAN b. abt 1858 d/o John McGowan b. abt 1820 and Susannah Unknown b. abt 1824.
