Sorry, I don't have your Robert Glenn/Margaret Campbell Line. Can you tell any more about them? I didn't list the family because I wanted to be sure first that Portersville was indeed in Butler Co. Part of my family from the Portersville area was the Robert Glenn/Margaret Campbell line (they lived in Muddycreek...she died at 90 and he at 94). But I have quite a bit of info on them. The line I'm particularly interested in is my Smith/Aiken one, since they've been terribly elusive. > > Here's what I know: > Mary R. Aiken (1836/38-1 Sep 1885) married Abijah Smith, who died around 1866. They had two known children, James Alexander Smith (1864-3 Oct 1924), and Emma/Mary E. Smith (b. 1866); and one possible one, Susan B. (b. 1858). Mary R. was born in PA. In 1877, she married John Wright and had one more child, Terzah Eldora Wright (1878-1940). When Mary died, she was buried in Mountainville Cemetery, Portersville. In the 1870 Census, Mary and her children were living in Perry Twp, Lawrence Co., with James and Isabell Aiken. > > If anyone knows of the family or can tell me where I could look, I would greatly appreciate it. > > Thank you, > Christi > > > ------------------------------------------------ > researching > from Switzerland: BORNER, CHALLANDES, HUBER, MEIER, SCHILD, SCHLECHTER, WAFFLER, WALDER > from Germany: BERNER, HERMANNI/HARMONI, SCHINTZ, TIMM, TONSING, TRABA, YUNKER > from Prussia: DIEBALL, RETICKA > from Scotland/N.Ireland: AIKEN, BORLAND/BORELAND, CAMPBELL, CHRISTY/CHRISTIE, DIVEN, DUNLAP, GLENN, HALL, MAGEE, MONTGOMERY, SMITH > from England: BISHOP, GOODRICH, HUNTE/HUNTER, LOWE, PANTON, POST/POSTE/van der POEST, STEVENS/STEPHENS, van GELDER, WEBE, WELLS > from Czechoslovakia: DUBINSKY, HANISEK, POLCHA, SEVIAR/SEVIAN/SEVIUR/SEVIUN > from Wyoming Co./Lackawanna Co., Pa: DUNLAP, DAVIS, HUNTER, POST > from Scranton, Pa: BELSKI, GREEN, McCALL, MILLER, STANKO, WARGO > from Wales: DAVIS, WILLIAMS > from Orange Co., N.Y.: HUNTER > from Connecticut: COLEMAN, DAILEY/DAILY, JORDAN/JORDON, LAY/LEE/LEIGH, POST, ROBBINS, ROSE, WRIGHT > > > ==== PABUTLER Mailing List ==== > To contact Ed Book, List Maintainer, e-mail to: > edbook@alpha.clarion-net.com > > > >
Paula, That's fantastic! That's exactly the family I've been looking for! Where did you find all that? I'm descended through Mary's son James and his wife Martha "Byrd" Glenn. Gosh, anything else you can send to me on this line would be great. Robert Glenn (James' father-in-law) was born 7 Sep 1828 and died 7 Dec 1922. Margaret Campbell was born on 6 Apr 1831 and died 2 Sep 1921. They lived in Muddycreek twp. Margaret's mother was Mary Magee, who was the granddaughter of the famed Patrick and Jane Hall Magee. You may have heard of them; there were a few books written about that family. Margaret's father was William John Campbell (10 Feb 1801-1865, Plainsfield, PA). I don't know anything else about him. Robert Glenn's parents were allegedly Archibald Glenn (1805-1888/9) and Susan Christy (1807-1890). That's a speculative match, though. Thanks a LOT for the info you provided, Christi ----- Original Message ----- From: "PAULA" <VERNE@pghmail.com> To: <PABUTLER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, December 03, 2002 12:54 PM Subject: Re: [PABUTLER-L] Re: Portersville question > Christi, > This information is to the 'best of my knowledge': > ROBERT AIKEN and his wife JANE McMEANS AIKEN gave the ground for the > Mountville (Mt.
