Hello, all! I am looking for the remnants of Samuel Brown, father of Elsie C. (Brown) Finnell. Elsie's dates are b. July 1861 Butler County, Pennsylvania, d. 26 March 1937 Butler, Butler County, Pennsylvania. My only indication of him comes from Elsie's obit, Butler Eagle, Butler County, Pennsylvania, which reads: OBITUARY: Mrs. Elsie Finnell, aged 66, wife of Edward Finnell, died at the family residence, 420 Isabel street, at one o'clock this morning following a lingering illness. Born in Renfrew, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Brown, she had resided in Butler and Butler County her entire life. Surviving are her husband, Edward Finnell; a son, John Finnell of Butler; three daughters, Mrs. J. B. Bowser, Mrs. A. D. Bowser and Mrs. Samuel Kenyon, all of Butler, 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. Funeral services will be held from St. Paul's Catholic Church at 9 o'clock Monday morning. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Does anyone know this family? I recently received the estate paperwork for a Samuel H. Brown in Fairview but there was no mention of Elsie so I assume that there was another Samuel Brown in the area.
