By 1820 it split into other townships. Those families you mentioned are all still in Butler County but some are in Forward Township, some in Middlesex Township, some in Connoquenessing. At this time those have split again to include Penn Township. I live about 2 miles from where Caleb Brown (d. 1823) died and is buried. I descend from his daughter Mary. I am not sure about the Elizabeth Brown married to McCandless. There were two prominent Brown families in Middlesex. Adam Brown (German) and Robert Brown (Caleb's son who are Irish). They lived only a mile or two from each other. Adam's family moved to Butler County from the Cumberland County area. Caleb's family came from New Jersey through Elizabeth, Pennsylvania (south of Pittsburgh) then to Butler. Again, I'll check my notes later this evening and get back to you.
