Just wanted to give you all an update of these things. The construction on the Butler Public Library began about a month ago, with the official groundbreaking taking place 2 weeks ago. The fund raising drive is now 5 months old, and has mainly been targeted at the business community up until this point. Although, patron contributions have started to come in, some from the fine folks on this list. Your help is greatly appreciated! As of last week, they had raised 1.9 million dollars of the 3 million needed for the completion of this project. 550,000 of the remaining 1.1 million needed, will be received from an anonymous donor as they raise the other 550,000 from the community. I think this says volumes for the support of this area towards this library. Originally, it was felt that it would take at least 3 yrs. to raise this money. I'm sure the last 500,000 will seem to trickle in, but progress is being made everyday. The Birth Records Project is moving along. 14 letters of the alphabet have been copied and the first few have been mailed out. Those volunteers will receive instructions via email. Hoping to mail the next batch out to typists by Saturday.
