If anyone has the 1930 census I have some families to look up for Butler Co. PA Heinrich Spithaler born 12/1888 & wife Josephine are living in Jackson Twp., Butler Co. in 1920 with son Fred age 10 Walter C. Spithaler born 11/1892 Forward Twp., Butler Co. PA. died in Evans City, PA. & wife Sarah Catherine Ramsey b. 1/1895. They had children, Paul, Ralph, Glenn & Lois. Later had son, Raymond born 10/1933 died 7/1974 Martin L Spithaler born 6/1892 Forward Twp., Butler Co. PA & wife Florence Viola Blum born 7/1899 had 3 children, Ruth, Irene & Laverne born 9/1922 died Zelienople 3/1988. They could of lived in Zelienople as Martin & Florence as well as son Laverne are buried in Zelienople Cemetery George W. Measel born 1866 Lancaster Twp., Butler Co. PA & wife Sophia Matilda Spithaler born 7/22/1885 in Connoquessing Twp., Butler Co. PA. where they also are buried-I am assuming that is where they were living. Russell Johnston 12/1898 died 12/1977 Mars, PA. & wife Matilda (Millie) Spithaler born 6/1898 Forward Twp., Butler Co. PA. They had son, Vernon R. Gloria -- I have checked Martin Spithaler in the Vet Hospital in Perryville, MD. He had not arrived at the time of the 1930 Census. Moving on to Mars Borough, I found many Johnstons, including the following couple (let me know if these are not yours, please): Russel D. Johnston, head household and homeowner (valued at $4200), also a proud owner of a radio. He does not live on a farm. He is a white male age 31, currently married and was first married at age 25. He has no advanced education but is able to read and write. He and both of his parents were Pennsylvania-born. English is spoken in his household. He is a house painter and is actively employed as such. Ella M. Johnston is Russel's wife and lives in the same house. She is a white female age 31, married first at age 25. She has no advanced education but can read and write. She and both parents were Pennsylvania-born. Hi Tim, This Russell D. Johnston has to be the one. Even though his wife's first name is Ella her middle initial is M. which I am betting is for Matilda, plus the birth ages are correct.
