Hello listers. My Butler County surnames are: GREENAWALT, MAGER, MONTAG/MONDAY, and possibly GRAFF I am somewhat new to family history research, so I have many questions. I am confused about Probate and Wills. I've read a little on the subject, but it hasn't sunk in yet. My understanding is that Wills are a part of the Probate process. Is that correct? And is the Butler County Estate Index that is located on the Butler Co. rootsweb website an index to Probate records? What would explain a person not indexed if there was property involved? And finally, for now: Are later Probate records, that aren't available through the LDS Libraries, accessible (long distance) through the county courthouse or local library? Thanks in advance.
