Debby, It matches the 1910 census and the cemetery records. James R. and his sister Muriel are buried in the family plot. Thanks for the last names of the sons-in-laws, it's always one of the hardest things to find. The page of the 1910 census did have an interesting little mystery that I'm hoping someone can explain for me. A few houses down from Warren Aggas is George Rider, age 77. Living w/him is daughter Emma, s-i-l Samuel Thornburg and two grandsons, Ralph and George McCandless, aged 16 and 14 respectively. Emma is shown as having no children, so what marriage did one of George Rider's daughters make to a McCandless? The only Rider-McCandless marriage that I know about is between Redick and Sarah Jane and we already know that had only one daughter, aside from the whole time thing. >Date: Tue, 16 Jan 2007 01:07:36 -0500 >From: "Debby Harris" <[email protected]> >Hello Jason, > Does this agree with what you have on Warren Aggas? >Debby > > F1. Hello Jason, The only one of George Rider's eight children that might have married a McCandless is Olive B., about whom we know nothing so far. If she died young, say, in her early 30's, while the children were quite small, it would be a reason for the boys to be living with their grandfather. Does anyone have access to the 1890 Census when the boys would have been four and five, under any McCandless?
