Hi Bea, I found this in my research: !CENSUS: 1850 William Ralston household 168/168 age 50 farmer with wife Mary and family John 18, John 16, William 13, Martha 11, Elizabeth 7, Mary 4 and Albert 2. I have some info on this family that lead into my direct line. My question is this William the one below you state? Iris > William M. Gardner married Effie Jane Ralston, daughter of Robert, 1788-1835, and Sophia Rohrer Ralston, 1807-1843. Robert was the son of William and Martha Ralston and his siblings were Elizabeth, Isabella, Jennet, Martha, WILLIAM, Samuel, John, David and Jeremiah. Hi Iris, The William Ralston in the 1850 census is not the William (born before 1775) I listed below. He is a son of that William's brother, John (1776) and Elizabeth Sharp Ralston. John and Elizabeth's son, William born 1801, married Mary Sharp born in Ireland, and they had the children you named. The Ralstons are very confusing because they were Scotch-Irish, there were a lot of them and each son named at least one son after his father who was named William or John or Robert. I have 18 William Ralstons in my file. I would like very much to know what you have on the Ralstons and am willing to share what I have if you want it. Thanks for contacting me.
