Looking for the families of John H Ickes b 1778 d 1846 married to Mary B Croil or Croyle. They had 12 children. Jacob, John , Elizabeth , Katherine , Susannah , Joseph , Sarah , Henry , Adam , Mary , Thomas and Barbara. All of their children got married. They came from Bedford and settled in Buffalo Township, Butler county, Pa . The area they settled in is called Ekastown. The orginal spelling of the name was ICKES. They changed it to EKAS. I have a Barbara Ekas marrying William Cooper (born 1817). The Coopers lived in Southeast Butler County in either Jefferson or Buffalo Twnshp (in any case in and around Cabot, PA).
